ISLAND MUSEUM

National Museums are, historically, a choice of narrative. The choice of how to remember the past to control the current understanding of a nation. In Cyprus, one is faced with two very strong narratives, the Greek and the Turk, that dominate the construction of a national history much more the Cypriot one. In this consideration, the BufferZone is important because it is perhaps the only place in the country where you not taking sides, the only true cypriot place. To talk about this, the project would be centered around a wall, the main surface forthe exhibitions, which should represent the construction of a National History narrative, and the National History it self; how the story of Cyprus can be a set of different narratives, that still relate to the same core. Focusing on the multiplicity, telling the story of Cyprus though culture themes and its influences.

NThe wall itself as element that can be representative of the current division of the country, not to reinforce it, but to question it.
