INTERESTS
Hi, my name is Saqib Ali and I’m studying Industrial Design at Northumbria University. I am knowledge hungry, passionately creative and most importantly: I am a giver.
Product & Service Design, Technology, Business, Entrepreneurship and Investing
I enjoy solving complex problems innovating and interacting with people from different backgrounds and seeing design from their perspective. My favourite question is; what can I do for you? I’m always there for those that need me. I have a keen interest in business and entrepreneurship. I have deep knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods. I love experimenting with materials and taking them to breaking point. A deeper understanding of materials and processes can help in creating truly amazing products, made in the most efficient way. I see things as they can be, not as they are.

Plastic Design Competition This product is designed to provide a more comfortable sleeping experience on long distance travel. The Design limits the neck and head movement enough to stop any stress on your neck muscles. It forms around your neck to hold up your head and bends towards your shoulders to distribute the weight evenly. Developing a concept through continuously prototyping and testing; Making it more comfortable, supportive and compact with each alteration.
Experience of Food A high end lunch box, designed to provide a restaurant dining experience. Sold in a high end supermarket, such as Marks and Spencer, Waitrose and Fenwick. The packaging is designed to provide more value visually by the way it opens to reveal the food in a unique way, showing that a lot of care has gone into designing and making the packaging.
Shadow Play Limited to only using polypropylene and the final piece must have an interesting shadow. With the brief in mind I set out to experiment with the material in order to get a deeper understanding of the properties and limitations of the material. After understanding the limitations of the materials I set out designing and experimenting with natural flowing forms inspired by leaves, tornadoes cloud formation and the effects of wind on object and how object movement effects the shadow.
Non-Literal Designing an electrical product which does not resemble anything through the form. The design must make the viewer guess it’s use and functionality. Adding useful details with compromising the form. Experimenting and understanding medium density gray foam. Amazing material to work with when making quick models for clients to feel and understand in depth. I believe a physical model can convey a far better message to the client then sketches.
