FILLING IN GREEN PROPOSAL FOR A FACTORY RESTORATION IN SHANGHAI, CHINA

W&R Group Landscape Architect. Head designer The project is a restoration of three old storage buildings. The idea is to use these spaces for creating high-tech offices. The project area is really small comparing with the volume of people there will be located here and the different companies. The main problem is the parking space. This is solved leaving the ground floor free for functional use. We keep green areas in this level as a natural environment for the offices. As this is a new concept development, it is necessary to create a first floor level for people to take a break, make business relationships and make easy the communication between these three buildings. In their interiors, we will find patios with common areas, as small meeting rooms and opened conference areas. The roof garden will be the last step to feel with nature all the area. Here, we will find coffee shops, ping pong rooms, picnic areas as well as running path.

ORIGAMI-TREE CONTEST FOR AN EXHIBITION CENTER FOR A PREFABRICATED SUPPLY COMPANY, CHANGSHA, CHINA

W&R Group Landscape Architect The main aim in this project was to show the client preoccupation about the environmental problematic that China is living nowadays. So all the project becomes an artificial nature. From a tree, whom leaves change to create composite triangles, we describe the whole area. A topography park is the perfect surrounding for the exhibition center, which is created by geometrical shapes. These shapes remember an origami construction, they born from the soil, the park, and the triangles which come from the initial geometrical tree. The building will close a little portion of nature in its interior. This way, nature and new technologies can be read in the same line, being an example for future actions.

The building is disposed surrounding an interior patio. The movement flows around it. The floor continues showing different areas, with different furniture and guides on the floor. As in the landscape design, the soft movement is the key of design. Nothing stops the whole view in each plant, he visual relationship is essencial in the design.

CROSSING THE BORDER MARITIME TERMINAL FOR PASSENGERS IN GETXO, VIZCAYA, SPAIN

Final Project. Eduardo Escauriaza Master in Architecture. 2009 The terminal is the last limit for people who go and come from the sea. But in first place, for cruiser´s passengers, it is the first contact with land. However, when you go inside a ship, you don´t realise you are in the middle of a big sea. The main activity develops inside these capsules, where consumism is exploted. For this reason, it is neccesary to remind passengers that they have been overseas. They must smell, feel and perceive their temporary home. How can we be aware of the others? Perceiving the limit. The limit shows where you finish and where the others start. Because of this, the building has a floor which dissapears as tides cover it. It is the coming back way to land. All this level is protected by a cover, which has industrial characteristics and proportions, and where services are placed to be far away from sea movement.

4_ When you let the platform and arrive to the breakwater, you arrive to land. A perforation on the floor emphasize the sense of “touch land”

3_ A light and shadow game is the main character of this route. Light passes throught skylights and water reflexions. Also, prisms reflect all this game and create a confusion, blending reality and mirages.

2_ Then, you discover the prisms where the different areas are protected of the environment.

1_ The first meeting with land is produced by a platform, which let you approch sea visually and corporeally

VEGETABLE CELLS RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN VITORIA, SPAIN

University work.Proyect department Cesar Azcarate and Roberto Ercilla

The neighborhood centre as the neighborhood soul. The external building is an abstraction. It is a wall which protect the natural interior. The internal facade mimics nature with organic forms and soft movements which look for the sun. These movements generate many changes in the building perception because of the changing shadows. The apartment is created as an opened space, it can be occupated in its totality. Domestic uses as: bed, furniture, bathrooms, kitchen,... are compacted in a dense and compacted band. It acts like the building´s wall. It is situated in the external fachace. For this reason, the apartment has a lot of occupation possibilities. It is transformed from orthogonality to sinuosity.

The closer the apartment is from the square, the more disintegrated it is. The apartment´s basic idea tries to reduce bed-room to bed-space. A mobile canopy describes the separation between bed space “cell” and common space. This canopy is materialized in some rotating screens which are opened or closed according to the different situations can happen in the home. The apartment can even reach a unique space.

SCULPTING A TOWN RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE ANCIENT TOWN IN PAMPLONA, SPAIN

University work. Proyect department Cesar Azcarate and Juan Domingo Santos This Project consists in completing a medieval square with a residential building and a multiple purpose building. It is between a convent and some “houses between walls. The emplacement is peculiar, because it is one of the four corners of a four roads intersection. Also, the irregularity of the street outline shows its facade to the principal affluence of pedestrians. The narrow streets pretend to surprise with the volumetry and construction of this aggregate. The typical medieval square describes a closed square with an occult interior, only visible for neighboords. What would it happen if a street elevation bend itself and let people come in? There would be a new type spacein the old city, where peole can meet others.

This Project introduces an urban problem in the city of Badalona. For centuries, Badalona has turned his back on the sea, considering it a working and industrial place. Because of this, the railway was built parallel to the coast, creating a barrier between city and sea. The Project must give a solution to this limit to create unity, as actual needs require, where beach should be an important leisure and amusement part of the city. Topography. These spaces are built placing groups of trees in different levels. The centre of dry riverbed is in an inferior level, because of its stay nature. The will of making a place where people can rest or avoid the city movement. There aren´t any interruptions. Space develop into a big continuous. Space flows shoftly reaching the desired datum levels.

The main action is replanting the river bank with pooplars, willows and reeds. Oaks will be introducing in the environment carefully. This regeneration divide the green way into four parts. The green way section will change with neccesities, views and sensations. The main action is replanting the river bank with pooplars, willows and reeds.
