Foundation studies in art and design at carmel college is an e x c i t i n g , creative and innovative course. It’s a place for you to explore a diverse range of practices, and then to specialise in an area of your choice; it is the route to help you access higher education or employment in the arts. projects are assessed and feedback is given regularly both verbally and in student handbooks. the final unit is moderated by an external examiner and an award of PASS, MERIT or DISTINCTION is given in level 4. further information can be found in the student handbook and at www.arts.ac.uk/awarding.htm

students will be expected to complete the UAL drawing award. you will develop your drawing skills by using a large range of different media. the course is run by the university of the arts london and is a highly recognised qualification.

students are assigned to a personal tutor who oversees the pastoral and academic needs of the group. tutor periods are designed to support the process of entering higher education or employment. students receive instruction on UCAS procedures, personal statements and university admissions. presentations from a range of universities are arranged as well as talks from professional artists. students attend the annual art and design UCAS event in manchester for more information or for any queries visit w w w . c a r m e l . a c . u k
