CAMP OVERVIEW In each of the summer camp weeks, your children will enjoy a mix of exhilarating adventure days.

High Level Ropes, Zip Wire, Climbing & Abseiling

Week One Adventure Gorge Walking

Unleash your inner Tarzan with our high-level ropes and zip wire course. Equipped with a safety harness and climbing helmet, camp-goers will attempt several rope challenges starting from ground level up to 30ft high, including the balance log, trapeze bar and cow tails. Next, check out the range of routes on the climbing wall and learn how to abseil. Will you attempt the vertical take off? Don’t worry, team mates are there to keep a close watch at all times. Campers will then swing to the finish line with an 80 meter zip wire.

A firm favourite amongst our campgoers, this immensely popular activity includes jumps, slides, swims and an array of challenges. Wearing wetsuits, buoyancy aids and a water helmet, your child will follow an instructor to embark on a journey, heading upstream of the river, exploring behind waterfalls, jumping off ledges and landing safely into deep pools.

Week Two Adventure

Surfing and Coastal Scramble

Karting

Get stuck into the sea and surf of the Gower coastline and learn from our experts how to stand on a surf board and become a natural at travelling the waves. Taking in the beauty of our Welsh beaches, camp-goers will finish off with a coastline scramble and games on the beach.

Brand new to our Summer Camps this year is go karting. To get adrenaline pumping, we’ll be going on a trip to Newport’s number one indoor go-karting centre where your child will enjoy racing on the largest and fastest track in Wales.

5

Art, Cartoon Illustration, Music Making A key part of the programme is for students to enjoy some time dedicated to cultural pursuits. This includes learning new skills in either art, cartoon illustration or music composition.

Music Making Art Workshop

In this exciting class, your child will create their own music using a webbased software. Regardless of their experience, any age and any level of ability are welcome to come along and explore their musical talent. Everyone will have their own audio file to take away and play as they please.

Your child will learn experimental watercolour techniques based on the work of the artist Ann Blockley. The session will provide a creative outlet to unleash their inner artist, working towards creating their own botanical painting using these techniques.

6

Cartoon Illustration Your child can become the next best storyteller in our cartoon illustration workshop. They will learn the art of cartoon illustration and recreate their favourite characters in their very own story that they can take home and enjoy.

7

Despite busy and action-packed days, everyone will enjoy free time to relax in the grounds or the boarding house with supervision at all times.

8

Sport & Games Back by popular demand, we host a range of popular sports led by our trained sport coaches. Coaches will be leading collaborative team-based games in traditional sports including football, cricket, tennis, swimming and rounders and fun team challenges such as frisbee golf, dodgeball and capture the flag that bring the campers together.

The excellent facilities offered in the grounds of Christ College include extensive sports fields, a heated swimming pool, a sports hall, tennis and squash courts, an all-weather sports pitch and a performance hall. All activities take place in the highest quality facilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. It doesn’t end there! We host a range of fun social events including camp fires, parachute games, team challenges, treasure hunts and quizzes to help campers let loose, relax and get to know each other. Campfires are a popular activity. We take the opportunity on some evenings to sing some songs in the woodlands of the school site, creating a calm and welcoming environment for our camp-goers to come together.
