Our History

Our Location

Founded by Henry VIII in 1541. Christ College is situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park alongside the River Usk. The site of Christ College was first mentioned in 1269 as a Dominican Friary.

We are just under 1hr from Cardiff, and Cardiff Wales Airport, and Bristol and its International Airport is only 1hr 30mins BIRMINGHAM away. London/ BRECON Heathrow Airport is CARDIFF LONDON just under 3hrs away. Christ College occupies a 40 acre site on the outskirts of Brecon, a safe, small market town in the Brecon Beacons National Park with plenty of rugged countryside on its doorstep to explore.

Our School Christ College is a modern coeducational boarding and day school. We cater for pupils in a broad range of academic abilities. We offer an extensive complementary curriculum and strongly value the contribution the second curriculum makes to the development of character and wellbeing.

• Excellent sports and academic facilities

• Pupils enter the senior school aged 11, 13 or 16. • Candidates entering at 11 and 13 are expected to take entrance tests in Mathematics, English and an IQ test. Candidates entering at 16 are expected to gain 6 GCSEs at level 5 (grade c) or better. Pupils should ideally have at least a level 6 (grade B) in GCSE in the subjects they wish to take at A Level. • A report from the previous school and supporting reference is required. • Overseas Pupils whose first language is not English must sit English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Maths papers. • An interview with the Head is required (Skype). • Tier 4 Student Visa - once a place is formally accepted, a Certificate of Acceptance (CAS) is issued.

International Pupil Support • Heathrow Airport Bus Service Our own bus service runs to London Heathrow Airport at the start and end of each term and half term holidays. • Host Families Scheme. • English as an Additional Language (EAL) support. • Sunday excursions for shopping, cinema and cultural experiences.
