Welcome Welcome to the first edition of our newest publication, Northern Pacific Streams. Throuhgout this publication it is evident of the abundance that God has showered on us over our first five years. The transformation of the school is not just in buildings, but one of transformation of culture. Our students and staff want to honour God and to show their appreciation for His goodness. There is much talent at Pacific Coast Christian School and it is our responsibility to serve others to build up the community. This is shown by our commitment to community service and overseas mission. Moving outside our comfort zone enables us to build up our character and to become people God has intended us to become.
I would like to personally thank the school staff for their dedication and also to the office staff for getting this publication out in such a timely fashion. As you flick through the pages I hope that you gain an insight into what this community has to offer. Dr Tina Lamont | Principal

In the Bible there are many heroes who have totally trusted God for their very being and all God has asked of them is that they trust Him and are obedient to His teachings. This is the character we want of our students that they trust God and want to walk in His ways so that they can become people of wisdom and discernment. It is my desire that children enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ and that they know the full depth of that relationship.
It has been exciting to join Pacific Coast. My aim for Senior School is to grow and nurture a learning community where children feel secure, accepted and challenged to make their lives outstanding to the glory of God. Strong relationships will enable this to happen. A deeper relationship with God informs what we do and enables staff to model God’s love in an authentic way. Staff, students and parents are encouraged to build solid relationships built on trust and respect. This will engender a sense of stability and acceptance in the student body and facilitate a safe learning environment.

Meeting Mr Donnelly
It is a blessing that the staff in the Junior School have such servant hearts to assist students to grow into whole people. It is my goal that the culture of the Junior School will be that of service, outward thinking towards others and an appreciation of how blessed we all are to live in Australia. I am excited to see students and teachers passionate about growing academically, artistically, physically, and spiritually. I hope and pray that students grow into serving God and ultimately living their whole life as service to God to bring Him glory.

Pacific Coast Christian School is Pacific Coast celebrated its 5th Birthday on 12 April. Every student had the opportunity to have the tasty sponge cake decorated in school colours.... .....funny story about that cake. It arrived damaged, the beautiful writing had been smudged during transit. Our trusty office staff were able to fix it with their own special cake decorating skills! We were delighted to have our special guest, Mr Geoff Provest, our local MP to join with us to celebrate.
The Advancement Centre The Advancement Centre is now operating on Monday and Thursday afternoons from 3:15pm to 4:15pm. The teaching staff work with students on assessment tasks or homework, providing guidance and help.
Fishing with Year 7 & 8
“I have a great life.... “ is what Mrs Thompson had to say as she enjoyed the Fishing, Interest Elective with her Year 7 & 8 students at the beginning of the year.
All the students caught at least one fish. Shekinah was the shining fisherwoman, catching an amazing 14 fish!
Interschool Sports Competition Increased opportunity for engagement in Sport is planned and an expression of interest has been lodged for participation in the Associated Gold Coast Colleges (AGCC) interschool sports competition for 2014. We see this as one way to enhance the intellectual vitality of life on campus outside the classroom. It has been encouraging in 2013 to see our students selected in State Touch teams and travel to regional competitions for Soccer, Swimming and Cross Country.
Our students have represented us this year at Zone Swimming, Cross Country, Touch Football and Soccer. We have enjoyed watching their team spirit and God-given abilites as sports people.
Gardening Project Growing your own food and learning about plants is one of the most enjoyable experiences. Pacific Coast is launching a gardening project, starting in Term 3. The program is designed to support children in the development of social skills, working in a team and, of course, learning about preparing the soil, planting seeds as well as sowing and reaping, biblical principles we value so strongly. Thanks to the wonderful sponsorship of Bunnings in Tweed, the construction of our first few garden beds has begun, with children from Year Five and Six eagerly wanting to help. We would like to create some vegetable gardens, which children will cultivate and, in the end, harvest and enjoy. We are also currently starting to recycle our rubbish here at school and hopefully will be composting to help us with the gardening.
We can’t wait for our ‘first fruits’.
iPads, engaging students and creative teaching

Family Fun Day Family Fun Day was a roaring success. With the biggest number of stalls yet and wonderfully supported by the Pacific Coast community. This community event builds on the already strong community spirit evident in the daily life of the school. With a hard working committee of mums and Michael Porter we raised $5000. The committee decided to support our sister school and tithed 10% of our takings to Pacific Valley. We look forward to an awesome Family Fun Day next year.
