Home Portfolio Blog About me
About me Hi I’m Sarah, I’m a disabled fashion student who is generally a liability to life. I’m half Jamaican and half English but born and raised in Leicester. I love to draw, sew and play with animals. This website is a portfolio of my work throughout my degree and any side projects I have participated in as well as a personal blog. Hopefully you shall see something that catches your eye, if you do and would like to know more you can find my contact details above^.
My blog is called let down her curls, inspired by the Rapunzel quote ‘Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair’’ because I have got rather long curly hair which I inherited from my Caribbean mother. I have always had unusually long hair since I was young as the longer my hair the heavier and therefore the easier it was to handle for me personally.
As a person my friends consider me to be very special because I just have magical ways of hurting myself and getting anxious. I have a rare hand condition that resembles arthritis which means I have to wear splints on 5 of my fingers to straighten them giving me more movement when I remove them. I was diagnosed with this condition shortly after starting my a levels, since I have struggled with writing and general pen and paper use. I try to not let my disability get in the way of my life but at times it can become stressful and lead to anxious moments where I doubt my abilities and future because of this. However I have learnt over a relatively short period of time how to battle and overcome these struggles and will

Me and my sensitive skin Disclaimer - I am not blacklisting any products featured in this post, anything I have reacted to was purely my own fault for using them on or near my skin when not prechecking ingredients for known reactants. Being a young female I like most women are very conscious of my appearance. As a teenager I noticed I often had a bright red nose, skin peeling off my face or other unusual skin problems that others around me didn’t. I tried to solve my bad skin with cleansers, scrubs and good old fashioned water on a flannel, some of these methods worked temporarily however others only increased my issues with prolonged use. By 2014 I had reduced the peeling fractionally and increased the redness when after cleansing one morning my face began to sting a lot. After a few days the stinging decreased to a standable level but the redness did not. At this point I decided I should start wearing make-up, me and my mother went to the No7 counter at our local boots to find something to cover up my rudolph look. The lovely woman took one look at my face and said she believed I had chemical burns and would not touch my face until I had seen a doctor. Skip forward a few days and a doctor diagnosed me with a condition called Rosacea. It is not a serious condition but it is permanent and different people react to it in different ways. In my case I have a bad reaction to alcohol, any make-up products that contain alcohol irritate my skin causing a burn effect, my skin peeling, stinging sensation and of course redness in all affected areas. I know some of you are thinking surely you could cover it with a full coverage foundation however when your skin is cracking and peeling off applying makeup only highlights the issues and draws more attention. So I use only hypoallergenic makeup,

Presentation Speech My name is Sarah Lindop, I’m currently a second year at Coventry university. For my initial application I created a fake profile of my Instagram/blogger persona on photoshop and for this interview I have gone on to create the blog that would be linked to the Instagram. I’m a disabled student as my hands don’t function particularly well. *Allow time for the interviewer to ask about condition*. Personally although my disability is a difficulty like my original bio says and my work shows I don’t let it stand in the way of what I want to do in life. I have found where I lack drawing skills and such that my classmates excel in I have grown excellent CAD skills from my constant use of computers and their software to do all forms of my university work. All the content you see before you is my own work including the background of the site which is a unique illustration of mine. My social media persona is all about doing what you love and being happy as you are. I hope from looking through my site and reading some of my posts you get this feeling and are yourself inspired to go out and try something new and different Business Cards handed out at interview
