Modularity
Borealis is comprised of three modules totalling 900 square feet. The modules are transported efficiently on three drop-deck trailers. Onsite assembly requires only two connection points.
SOLAR PANELS
Borealis utilizes a 10 kilowatt photovoltaic array that powers all of the lights, energy efficient appliances and mechanical cooling. Ask us about net-zero!
The Bathroom
WINDOWS
The design features a large, spacious bathroom that receives its light from solar tubes in the roof. These tubes also sustain a living green wall that detoxifies the air. Ask us how the living wall works!
The windows are triple paned for optimal insulation. They are also placed in strategic locations and tilt or turn for passive ventilation. Ask us to see one window transform into two!
Ask us about assembling Borealis!
Named after both the iconic northern lights, and the lush Albertan boreal forest, Borealis is a modular home that tackles the societal problem of sustainable living in remote environments. Situated in Western Canada’s Boreal Forest, Borealis has been designed to ensure a harmonious balance between simplicity, practicality, and functionality. www.solardecathlon.ca @teamalbertasd
