Twitter Strategy: Why Twitter is Important
Simple answer: Another real way to connect and engage with families.
Excite Families:
Melvin Edwards @edwards21228 Apr 3 Great coaching session with @ncsa and @NCSAJason yesterday to talk about @damon_edwards' recruiting plans. It was a huge help! Thanks!
44
@NCSAJason @ncsa you I look forward to chatting more and the help that you'll give
@NCSA_Baseball thank
Mother of Cameron Deegan (email): I guess he said you tweeted at him. So that's cool!
Incoming Commitments:
@NCSA_Baseball thanks for everything you guys have done for me! You guys are the best #ISignedToday #NCSAcommit @ncsa
Direct Message from Bryce Baumwart: I verbally committed to Brown Mackie college today! (April 13th, 2015 senior discount kid)
Direct Message from Seth Lay: I signed with RVC last week. (January 23rd)
Generate Enrollments:
Bill Sinacore (@ryanjeffery1) recently emailed me after a tweet and wants to enroll his younger son. We had discussed it briefly in the past, but my tweets kept our name in front of him and he reconnected. Going to enroll this summer. How to Do it
What I do My daily goal is to post one tweet. With video evaluations, incoming emails, actions, and Coaching Sessions, I run into many accounts with Twitter handles listed. I try to post an engagement tweet whenever a handle is available and coordinate them with the main reason I’m in the account. This 45
provides a real reason for me to post the tweet and hits the prospect again with the information I’m trying to share. It’s the last action I perform before leaving the account.
To Get Started 1. Set up a twitter handle and send username/password to manager. (twitter.com) 2. Set up a bitly.com account. Needed to shorten links and track clicks. (bitly.com) 3. Set up a twitter activity account so they can track engagements, etc. (https://analytics.twitter.com/) 4. Link your twitter and Facebook so your twitter posts show on your Facebook profile as well. Go to “Settings” and then “Apps”. 5. Post a recruiting feed telling your clients you are on twitter. Provide your handle. Tell them to follow you and add their handle to the account. 6. One tweet per day should be the initial goal. Build up from there. 7. Use the “In Person Contact” tracking note to track your tweets. You will get credit in the CES for your tracked tweets. 8. Read this article. It helped me out early on. http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/twittertactics-to-increase-engagement/ 9. Keep it clean. Avoid making the Varsity Monitor reports.
Types of Tweets to get started Commitment tweets: They tend to get the most retweets, favorites and followers. HRC’s can pull them weekly with the RM report or post them after they add a specific commitment. I started by pulling the list, but now post them as I get them. These tweets helped drive up my activity numbers and, most importantly, followers. Include the prospect handle, profile link, and college program twitter handle. I’ve gotten some program followers from these. Include travel teams if possible too. @ncsa should be included on these as well. They have the best shot to get retweeted.
Coaching Session tweets: This can be to help set a Coaching Session or done post Coaching Session. In the post Coaching Session, highlight the prospect and profile. Give an update on their season or touch on a major point of the conversation. Include a bitly link of the profile in the tweet too. Use #CoachingSession in the tweet.
46
New Video tweets: Highlight the prospect, profile, and a key stat or academics. These tweets have time built in to post the tweet. Do it while you are waiting for the matches to populate. Include a bitly link of the profile in the tweet too.
Season Update tweets: These are reliant on getting info from the prospects. But I have a few guys who now update me regularly on their seasons. This will slow down in the fall and winter, but has been going well so far this spring. Include a bitly link of the profile in the tweet too.

Upgrade Policy: What are basics of NCSA’s new Upgrade Policy? · ·
NCSA will now require formal documentation to accompany any upgrade that is offered to a family. Upgrades can be offered for a variety of reason: o As part of a planned sales promotion. o As a result of a service breakdown. o Or a part of our newly formed “Family and Friends” category.
Why are we putting these changes into place? · ·
To protect our athletes eligibility, it is important to ensure no product or service is awarded to an athlete only because they are a talented prospect. Secondarily, this new policy will allow for greater oversight and management.
Other items to note: ·
·
To date we have not had any issues with eligibility concerns, but this issue is extremely important and our compliance with this new policy will protect our families from any unintended issues. This policy will mainly effect the scouting force and the recruiting coaches, but it’s important everyone is aware of these changes and honors the policy.

Profile Switch
Policy:
*Update on switching athlete to another sibling. o 1) Fill out the AG Application, the website to direct them to is www.athleadershipgrant.com. Make sure they fill out all the questions and have them email you (the HRC) back once they submit the application. o 2) After you receive the confirmation email, please email your manager the details on what’s happening. For example: “Katelyn Vara (sister of Tim Vara 158419) - Switching Profile to Katelyn” o 3) You manager will follow up with the AG committee to have the new profile created.

[FCS] In championship subdivision football, live athletics evaluations may be conducted at scholastic or non-scholastic athletics activities, other than all-star contests and associated activities (e.g., practice, banquets, coaches clinics, etc.), provided there is no institutional involvement in arranging or directing such activities. An institutional staff member may attend a recruiting event (other than a permissible live athletics event) in which information (e.g., athletics or academic credentials, highlight video) related to prospective student-athletes is presented or otherwise made available. 13.1.7.9.6 All-Star Contests. [FBS/FCS] In football, an institutional staff member shall not attend an all-star contest or other activities associated with such a contest (e.g., practice, banquets, coaches clinics, etc.).

studentathlete’s high school, college preparatory school or two year college first shall obtain permission for such contact from that institution’s executive officer (or the executive officer’s authorized representative). Contact may be made only when such permission is granted. Member institutions also are bound by this provision when recruiting international student-athletes. 13.1.7.2 Practice or Competition Site. Recruiting contact may not be made with a prospective student athlete before any athletics competition in which the prospective student-athlete is a participant during the day or days of competition, even if the prospective student-athlete is on an official or unofficial visit. Such contact includes the passing of notes to a prospective student-athlete by a third party on behalf of an institutional staff 74 member. Such contact shall be governed by the following: (a) Contact shall not be made with the prospective student-athlete at any site before the contest on the day or days of competition; (b) Contact shall not be made with the prospective student-athlete from the time the prospective student athlete reports on call (at the direction of the prospective student-athlete’s coach or comparable authority) and becomes involved in competition-related activity (e.g., traveling to an away-from-home game) to the end of the competition even if such competition-related activities are initiated before the day or days of competition; (c) Contact shall not be made after the competition until the prospective studentathlete is released by the appropriate institutional authority and departs the dressing and meeting facility; (d) Contact shall not be made with the prospective student-athlete involved in competition that requires more than one day of participation (e.g., a basketball tournament) until after the prospective student athlete’s final contest is 90
completed and he or she is released by the appropriate institutional authority and leaves the dressing and meeting facility; and (e) Contact with a prospective student-athlete’s parents or legal guardians at the site of competition is permissible during a contact period following June 15 immediately preceding the prospective student-athlete’s junior year in high school.
13.1.7.2.1 Approved Events. It is permissible for athletics staff members who are responsible for conducting an approved athletics event (see Bylaws 13.11.2 and 13.11.3) involving high school students to come in normal contact with participants; however, under no circumstances may recruitment take place. 13.1.7.2.2 High School All-Star Games. In-person contact with a prospective student-athlete shall not be made on or off the member institution’s campus at a high school all-star game practice or competition site outside the permissible contact periods in football and basketball. 13.1.8 Limitations on Number of Evaluations—All Sports. D3 Rules 13.1.4 Contact Restrictions at Specified Sites. 13.1.4.1 Prospective Student-Athlete’s Educational Institution. Any staff member and any representative of the institution’s athletics interests desiring to contact a prospective student-athlete at the prospective student-athlete’s high school, college preparatory school or two-year college first shall obtain permission for such contact from that institution’s executive officer (or designee). Contact may 91
be made only when such permission is granted. Permission for such contact is not required if the contact with the prospective student-athlete is made after official school hours. Member institutions also are bound by this provision when recruiting international athletes. 13.1.4.2 Practice or Competition Site. Recruiting contact may not be made with a prospective student athlete before any athletics competition in which the prospective student-athlete is a participant during the day or days of competition, even if the prospective student-athlete is on an official or unofficial visit. Such contact includes any communication (e.g., face-to-face, telephone call or electronic transmission) with a prospective student-athlete at the site of organized competition involving the prospective student-athlete by athletics personnel who are attending the competition or who are aware of the competition. Such contact shall be governed by the following: (a) Contact shall not be made with the prospective student-athlete at any site before the contest on the day or days of competition; (Revised: 1/11/89, 1/11/94) (b) Contact shall not be made with the prospective student-athlete from the time the prospective student athlete reports on call (at the direction of the prospective student-athlete’s coach or comparable authority) and becomes involved in competition-related activity (e.g., traveling to an away-from-home game) to the end of the competition even if such competition-related activities are initiated before the day or days of competition; (c) Contact shall not be made after the competition until the prospective studentathlete is released by the appropriate institutional authority and departs the dressing and meeting facility; and (d) Contact shall not be made with the prospective student-athlete involved in competition that requires more than one day of participation (e.g., a basketball 92
tournament) until after the prospective student athlete’s final contest is completed and he or she is released by the appropriate institutional authority and leaves the dressing and meeting facility. 13.1.4.2.1 Contact with Prospective Student-Athlete’s Relatives or Guardians at Practice or Competition Site.
