Date: 06.2019 - 12.2019 Location: Amazon Rainforest, South America. Institution: Politecnico di Milano Tutor: Prof. Richard Joseph Ingersoll Authors: Paola Hagei, Sara Isabel Uribe
The Amazon Rainforest is the largest and most important rainforest on Earth and it covers 40% of South American continent. Nowadays it has lost an area almost of 1000 000 km2 due to the deforestation by mining companies, illegal uses and agriculture; Among other threats. The main purpose of this thesis project was to design an architectural module, named “Jungle Pod” that could be built in-situ with several combinations, creating a set of spaces in three different scales (Triada - Ecological Station - Research Center) and in various locations within the Amazon Basin for researchers and locals, to watch-research-habit the rainforest in a sustainable way.
The module was based on parametric design and a waffle self-supporting structure; in this way, it is able to respond to the conditions of adaptability and mobility. To make it possible, a Network of Ecological Stations in the Amazon Rainforest was developed, which is connected by the Amazon basin and its tributaries. This network proposes a series of temporary and permanent infrastructures like ecological bases and research centers where different projects of investigation and innovation for the study and protection of the rainforest, can take place.

Date: 02.2019 - 06.2019 Location: San Cristorofo. Milano, Italy. Institution: Politecnico di Milano Prof: Andreu Arriola, Aurosa Alison, Chiara Locardi Authors: Andrei Rizea, Zana Bokshi, Sara Isabel Uribe
The purpose of the Multimedia Park was to regenerate and activate the abandoned area of San Cristoforo, in Milan, located in a strategic point of the city. In order to turn it into a focal cultural and urban point with proper public spaces and active public life. The site included the unfinished building of Aldo Rossi and the area around it. The building was meant to be a train station but it was never finished. Nowdays, only the main structure remains.
1. Natural Connectivity
2. Mobility
Density was used to integrate the natural and built environment. The public space was equiped with pavilions for multimedia exhibitions, the new scaffolding envelope wrapped the exisiting structure of Rossi, while the new ramps provided a circulation around the building, providing visitors with the chance to see the multimedia exhibitions and the structure itself as part of the exhibition.

POMPEYOS HOUSE Enhancing the Patio-House Date: 06.2019 Location: Cordoba, Spain. Institution: Politecnico di Milano Prof: Gaia Redaelli Authors: Mona Ibrahim, Merna Rakha, Sara Isabel Uribe
The PATIO-HOUSE (the courtyard as an open-air space inside the building) characterizes the ecological and social identity of the Mediterranean city. It represents not only an historical architecture - around which, social relations are established and which, at the same time, regulates the natural energy of the building.
ZONIFICATION OF POMPEYOS PATIO-HOUSE
SECTION E - E’
The excercise consisted in the intervention of an specific case of a patio-house in the historical center of the city of Cordoba, in the South of Spain, declared World Heritage. The intervention developed a new way of inhabiting the historical Patio-house: the model of family cooperatives sharing the space, while the patio is preserved as a historical turistic attraction destined to congregate the Cordoba three main religions: Islamic, Christian and Jewish. Institution: Politecnico di Milano Prof: Henrique Alves Pessoa, Laura Teresa Scesi Authors: Alper Güler, Jana Hager, Sara Isabel Uribe LOCAL STRATEGY Cantine Romagnoli is located in Vilì di Vigolzone, where the Appennine meets with the Padana Valley, around 20 km South of Piacenza. The company has its origins in 1857. The land is very fertile and produces some of the best wines of Emiglia Romagna region. Nowadays, there has been an orientation towards sustainability and organic wine production. The project aimed to highlight the values of the territory, the history, the landscape and the production process of the wine. The result was a multi-scale project, going from the “micro “to the “macro”. Starting from enhancing the historical and ecological landscape heritage, to finally, formulate an agro-turistic devolepment by the design of different facilities.

The purpose of this studio was to develop an architectural proposal for an specific scientific public building project in a given complex land: “Manantiales” Quarry, deteriorated by years of mining activity. The masterplan contemplated the ecological restoration of the area, by the means of soil recovering and vegetation sustitution. In addition, a Research Center for Ecological Restoration of degradded areas named CINVECO, was designed based on social and geographical issues. Its scientific program was formulated with environmental emphasis, making the quarry, a pilot plan for other areas damaged by mining.

As a result of urban processes in Medellin, hillsides have been transformed by infrastructure projects and native forests were replaced with foreign tree species, breaking the ecological network and endangering wild animals. Las Palmas highway, which connects the city with the International Airport, was one of those. This project seeked to formulate territorial and urban strategies and plans at different scales in order to regenerate the ecological continuity of the city of Medellin within the Metropolitan Green Belt: a project to delimit the edge of the city as a protected area.

In this semester we studied the use of techniques of parametric design and digital fabrication for the development of architectonic spaces of great constructive complexity, such as organic, irregular and double curvature surfaces, by the application of two techniques: digital sectioning and paneling tools with Rhinoceros and Grasshopper softwares. The course was divided in two modules: The first module aimed to design an open-air theater in a public space of the city, La Presidenta Park , using the waffle technique combined with the paneling tools. The second project was a free topic that took place in the Nutibara Hill. I chose to design a Yoga Center using sectioning tools plus

The aim of this architecture studio was to enhance the student’s ability to formulate common architectural projects within the city, in line with the real needs of a given sector. A collective housing project was developed in a traditional residential neighborhood of the city of Medellin, based on the diagnosis of the sector and the identification of inhabitants’ dynamics.
2nd Floor Plan
The project took place in one block located next to the main park within the neighborhood. The purpose was to design a residential building, holding a cooperative system where the residents could develop and commercialize traditional activities of the zone sucha as floristry and horticulture.

PARQUE DEL INDIO A space for sports and culture in the city of Bogota Date: 04.2017 - 07.2017 Location: Medellin, Colombia. Institution: Opus Estudio: Architecture, Landscape and Territory
El Indio is a large area in the city of Bogota owned by the public aqueduct company were a big water tank is located. Due to its size, its ecological importance and its historical heritage, being a pre-colonial settlement of the Muiscas indigenous population where the park takes its name “El Indio, the Bogota City Council decided to build a metropolitan park and recycle the old water infrastructure. The design was commissioned to Opus Architecture Studio, were I had the opportunity to work on the initial phase of the project. The design was focused on the development of sport facilities, bicycle paths and archeological routes. The park is already built and you can check it on the Studio website https://www.opusestudio.com/puparque-
