From the viewpoint of Largo das Portas do Sol and the Tower of the Church of Santa Luzia drew up a vertical element. On one hand free public space, on the other accompanies the dimension of the church tower, and the tower of the wall once did, giving the house an appropriation of the river and the city unique. The house comes from the design of a spiral staircase that connects the four floors, reinforcing the idea of vertical element is very present in Lisbon due mainly to its topography. The tower is the link between the poor and the densest part of Alfama / river and the other more fragmented Alfama / castle. Each floor operates as a division where halls and corridors are replaced by a ladder. The first floor is a quarter, the second a work room, a kitchen to the third and the fourth to a living room, allowing a very rigid spatial differentiation and also some privacy.

International Competition , Milan [2012]
019
SituationPlan Milan Italy
020 The objective of the competition is to promote experimentation on housing strategies that meet the new residential needs of users who may be highly mobile. Specifically, the inherent characteristics of city users pose significant problems to which traditional living spaces are often unable to provide satisfying results in terms of cost or in terms spatial organization. In Milan, thousands of people use the city occasionally or infrequently (ranging from a few days to a few months at a time), but for reasons that enrich the culture and urban vitality to the city. This is a resource that should be reinforced; it is appropriate to capture its value as a driving force, essential for its economic and social value. The responses to this new type of housing need are still weak, significantly lacking in quality and quantity. What is missing is an efficient and extensive network across the territory; existing locations offer obsolete choices in their methods of use and are inadequate to the new forms of spatial organization. Social housing construction has failed to adequately meet these needs because it is still closely related to the outdated image of stable nuclear families who live permanently in the same home for their entire l i v e s. Proposal purpose
The competition proposes to experiment on housing models for people who do not live permanently in a city. The strategy of locating temporary housing in the metropolitan area is part of a broad-based vision of those who live in the city for limited periodsThe profiled field of this edition of the Instant House competition is part of the “Sustainable Campus plan launched by the Politecnico di Milano.

MONITORING CENTER

SituationPlan Lisbon Portugal
The exercise consists of a projecting water lines in the area of study a dam that will be a water plan and a building for the CENTER FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING. 028
Proposal purpose
By reading the territory, I gathered that the water lines elaborated a drawing in space very important and pivotal in the development of this first exercise. I chose this area, because of its natural beauty and its great, especially at the junction of two main water lines. My project is developed around the riverside of Manique, more precisely in the fifth weights, retrieving a building that belonged to the farm, the windmill. The project for the center, is the redevelopment of an existing group of buildings and their expansion through the construction of new outdoor spaces. The new buildings are developed in close relationship with the preexistências built as well as with the natural surroundings. This intervention is intended to qualify the transition between the buildings and the surrounding landscape. The demolition of the annexes disqualified (storage and garages), adossados the wall that borders the courtyard, has highlighted the presence of this wall and simultaneously recover the original typology of the set. The intervention seeks to reinterpret the language and scale of existing buildings, in the context of a contemporary. The new volumes are characterized by a construction telluric in narrow spaces and strongly coverage of a vertical water. The outer walls of the new construction, reinforced concrete apparent, are made with traditional formwork Reguado timber. The material used, the concrete geometry clear, does not conflict with the natural elements of the landscape. The rigorous design for which the concrete sends its artificiality genetics, in contrast to the appropriation that nature, and above all the time will make the proposed architectures. Thus all architectures and spaces built year after year tend to integrate and become part of the landscape, not as objects, but as constructed geographies In the former space, where a new volume was placed, for example in the building of the mother water or more exactly the mill, where the construction systems have been recovered the remaining traditional construction systems and materials, such as stone and towed whitewashed and coverage in tile straw.

Drawing a path situated between the SĂŁo Jorge Castle and the Tagus River, looking for the regeneration of that place through notable points in the fabric of the city as part of the project. The houses unoccupied or in ruins, very elements present in Alfama, were recovered and revitalized constituting themselves as part of a whole, linking up with points of cultural, historical and artistic: Field of Onions, Casa dos Bicos, Lisbon Cathedral, ChapitĂ´, Fradique Patio, Castelo de SĂŁo Jorge ... A body in prefabricated concrete elements consisting of three variables, vai multiplying like a piece of lego, creating varied spaces and different ways of living, working also as a structural element. As a way to activate one of the main centers of the city was chosen for a more cultural program, by including art galleries, exhibition centers, libraries, bookstores, workshops for young artists, green spaces, cafes and restaurants hanging gardens.

Why do I desire What I do not need? Why does my soul, like fire, Or a hot abstract greed, Seek all that is higher? Why, if not because It is a soul? Who can know the cause When it lies in its whole Hidden in laws? Yet this matters not. What matters is pining And that stress of thought That comes of diving What to wish that may not be got.
