“Mush encourages creative and innovative design of environmentally beneficial products, by mixing waste and mushroom mycelium in the creation of new materials.

Aimed at schools, Mush inspires an environmental focus through creative and open-minded thinking, via an engaging process of hands-on material creation.”

The Mush website and social media platforms provide community spaces to share creations, inspire others, and provide insight into mycelium within the design industry.

Slip cast, white porcelain. Gloss internal glaze, matt-finish exterior glaze.

Uniti - a play on the word ‘unity’ - is a porcelain filter coffee jug and collection of interlinking cups which can be placed together in different forms.

This product whilst functional, acts as an artistic statement piece in peoples’ homes; it represents the beauty of people working together and supporting each other, inspired by the successful and supportive relationships within the fair-trade coffee industry.

PLACEMENT INSIGHTS

duration : 2 weeks

Developing a new design for the Blakes London showroom on Vectorworks, to present to the managing director and lead technical designer.

Other attributes of my work throughout my time in Blakes included: developing children’s’ playroom design ideas, as this is another area the company is venturing into, as well as producing mood-boards for client meetings.

duration : 10 months

part *********

part *********

My role within the company was Junior Development Designer. This incorporated all development of displays and cosmetic modules, majority of which was done on Solid Works.

Each project begun with a brief from the sales department, we (design & development) then developed a design to meet it. Diam has an on-site workshop, therefore, once a concept had been developed on CAD and technical drawings were produced, samples were ordered and tested. When the design was approved, it was then sent to the workshop to produce the parts and assemblies for distribution and installation, into shops all over the world.
