About me I was born in Rome 27 October 1990. I was selected for the 2012/13 Erasmus Program allowing me to study in Lisbon for a full year at the University of Lisbon FAUTL. There I had the opportunity to attend various classes and courses not included in my study plan: e.g. “Drawing of the new model” and “Design III”- Fashion and Design Department. Upon returning to Rome, I attended an elective class in Landscape Design, in order to expand my knowledge regarding a topic I feel is essential to my degree course. In 2013/14 I was selected for two international workshops, where I was part of a team that included foreign students. I graduated in January 2016 with 110/110: my thesis topic was the re-qualification of one of the military fortress currently in a state of abandonment in Rome. During this last few years I have also freelanced in Graphic Design. All these experiences in Italy and abroad, have helped me to develop good relational skills and team working abilities, and have opened new horizons outside the strict confines of my studies. This portfolio is a collection of various design themes; approached via different representation techniques to develop and explain a project.

Although of considerable size, the fort is difficult to discern from its surroundings, providing me with the starting point of my project. The rooms of the extant Fort are to be used as exhibition halls, creating a “Museum of Forte Portuense” whose aim is to showcase not only the fort itself but also provide exhibition spaces for other expositions. The Fort’s original central drill ground – accessible from the library or the main entrance – provides entry to the various

rooms of the complex as well as outdoor pathways. The proposed intervention would create an auditorium whose lines follow the natural contour of the existing embankment and a restaurant created by excavating a portion of that same embankment.

The library is designed to accommodate various functions on each of its 5 floors. The ground floor is dedicated to the more urban functions – a food court; periodicals and reference texts. The first floor holds the multimedia library with a specific PC zone and another area for children. It also provides private study rooms similar to those on the upper levels.

THE RESTAURANT

.

A restaurant and open-air auditorium are located immediately off the central drill ground. Both these interventions were designed to leave the existing embankment profile unaltered, working with its natural contour. The auditorium takes advantage of a natural depression to create a space that can be exploited as either a Piazza or a stage. The restaurant is belowground; even though it is created by excavating the lower portion of the embankment, it does not in any way alter its volumetric space: the only exeption are the beams, coming out from the ground to emphasize the access ramp to the rampar and the other paths. Internally, the masonry structure rests on the Fort’s walls, while the beams system supports the cover and the emankment.

URBAN INFILL [ Design Studio V ////////// Year: 2014-15 ////////// Prof. Orazio Carpenzano ] The 5th year Design Studio dealt with the topic of ‘urban void’. The project proposal was to design an in-fill, a small sized intervention within the context of an already consolidated cityscape, in an effort to link the unfinished settlements of this

urban-void with existing neighboring structures in the area known as Ostiense. Given the proximity to the University “Roma3”, I decided to design a student house, currently lacking in the area.

PALACIO MARQUESES DE PONTE DE LIMA [Conservação Design Studio ///////// Year: 2013-14 ///////// Prof. Jose’ Aguiar] The Project building is in the city of Mafra, in Portugal, known for its ‘Royal Palace of Mafra; the complex includes a park that has already been reconverted with several new functions for the community. The aim of the project was to reuse the old ‘cascina’ which thanks to its strategic location would became the main entrance to the entire complex, and design public gardens around it, opening it to the public.

TANGENZIALE EST RE-USE [Landscape Design Studio ///////// Year: 2014-15 ///////// Prof. Fabio di Carlo] The Landscape Design studio proposes an alternative to proposed demolition of a causeway tract currently linking different parts of Rome.

The idea is to create a linear park,re-proposing a sort of Roman ‘Promenade Plantee’ or ‘High Line’, adapting the project to the needs and conditions of the Capitol.
