01. Community Center Barcelona,Catalonia. Project: The project is located at the Circumvalation Avenue,in between the Raval and Pueblonuevo neighborhoods. The site is demarcated by the zoo at the south and by the train tracks at the north. The new construction will be a central gathering point. The space will be accesible to the students from the nearby University Pompeu Fabra, as well as to the people from the nearby neighborhoods. Program:cafe, workshop rooms, study classrooms for 5 and 10 people, multimedia room, library and lounge. Proposal: Seeking to merge with the existing land development to create a cohesive landscape, and taking in consideration the section site, the ground floor appears as an open and penetrable space which adapts to the unevenness nature of the ground. The rectangular perimeter of the building will organize the public space as long as the inside will be organized according to the outer space.

The building is divided in two structural systems. Underground level is built with reinforced concrete. First floor and upper levels are built using structural metal profiles, giving to the building light character. The Boyds beams will allow a big gap between the structural points. A double skin facade will control the light and the sound from the train tracks. The exterior deploye mesh and interior glass facades will capture the essence of a train station atmosphere. In addition, woodwork will warm the cold steel construction and will avoid thermic and acoustic breaks.

02. Edvard Grieg Center Oslo,Norway. Project: The site of the building is located in Oslo, in the Kontraskjaret park next to the Akershus military fortress which is located strategically in a fjord. The park is the transition space between the orthogonal grid of the city and the fortress. It is requested to build in this park a new center dedicated to the Norwegian music composer Edvard Grieg. Program: Auditorium with their respective services, permanent and temporary exhibition center, cafe, multifunctional space and staff offices. Proposal: In order to design and build architecture that do not compete with the existing fortress, it is created a simple geometry, burying part of the program to reduce the dimensions. The careful study of the topography, surrounding vegetation, as well as the position of the fortress will imply the exact placement and set out of the project. a:

with a linear building, working with the geometry of the wall it is defined the central space of the park, leading space when events occur.

b:

The rectangular piece is elevated from the ground in order to do not create an impassable barrier, but a filter between the city and the fortress.

In the section the space can be close as a box when you need a showroom or open to the views when you need a viewpoint.

Construction The raw materials used for the construction are exposed reinforced concrete and wood. From the outset, the first floor is developed with the aim of using as many prefabricated elements as possible. This floor is built with two plywood trusses and lignatur wooden forgings. The supports and burying parts of the program is built with reinforced concrete to withstand the structural loading.

03. Winary and Hotel “Mas Siurana”. Falset,Tarragona

Project: The old farmhouse “Mas Siurana” and a rural setting are the preexisting on the site.A new winnery and hotel are requested in order to take advantage of the place. Program: Winnery and all related services with a rural hotel containing 6 guest rooms. Proposal: Rather than just establishing a building as a direct solution for the program, the project aspired to merge this structure in its unique landscape. To do so, the project is divided in pieces. The old farmhouse indicates the position of the project Wich intends to actively integrate the architecture with the surrounding environment, by pursuing the direct understanding of the landscape and not merely as a contemplative point of view.

The materials elements respond to the desire to camouflage the building. In different ways they both adopt the same strategy, the corten steel which imitate the nature colors or the white finish that creates a neutral background for the old farmhouse. The winery will be built in concrete as a result of underground and the need to prevent abrupt indoor air temperature changes. The rooms instead will be built in wood, getting closer to you the experience of being in the middle of the nature.
