Dear Attendees,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I warmly welcome everyone attending our upcoming trade show. We are thrilled to have you with us and look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones.

As we all know, the last few years have been challenging for everyone, and we are grateful to be able to hold this event in person. It’s a time to come together, network, learn about new products and services, and rekindle friendships.

We have a lot of exciting events lined up for you, including an exhibitor evening, log cabin seminars, 150 exhibits, and a producer and exhibition mingle. The exhibitor evening allows you to engage with industry experts and learn more about their products and services. The log cabin seminars are a chance for you to hear from experts in the field and learn about the latest trends and practices. In addition to this

SARDA Ag Research is offering free TKW and protein samples in their booth throughout the weekend.

We are also proud to announce that we have over 150 exhibits showcasing the latest innovations and technology in the industry. Whether you’re looking for new suppliers, equipment, or services, you’re sure to find something that piques your interest.

Finally, we have the producer and exhibition mingle, a chance for you to connect with others in the industry, share ideas, and form new partnerships.

Once again, welcome to the trade show. We hope you have a fantastic experience and leave feeling inspired and energized. I appreciate your support, and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,

Log Cabin Seminars

Have You Hurd?

Smoky Hemp Decortication Ltd. (SHDL) is building a hemp decortication facility in the Village of Donnelly. The Decortication plant will take locally grown

hemp plants and process them into 3 saleable products, the bast fibre (for insulation, weed suppression mats & grow cubes), the woody hurd (for hempcrete, animal bedding) and the greens/ dust (for protein, cosmetics). Initially, SHDL plans to have a 3 tonne per hour processing facility which will require bales of hemp from approx. 6,000 acres of land. The potential for expansion due to high demand is great, as is the potential for secondary processing and manufacturing locally.

SHDL will be sharing booth #37 in the Trade Show with Smoky Regional Economic Development (a natural fit). In addition, SHDL has booked the Log Cabin for a 1 hour session to talk about our hemp processing facility, the opportunities for farmers to grow hemp for us, as well as the opportunity for investment in this shareholder owned corporation. Join us in the Log Cabin on Friday March 17th between 2 and 3 pm, or come visit us at our booth at any time during the Trade Show, just a quick left turn when you walk into the arena.

Friday, 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Join MNP’s agriculture specialists at the SARDA Tradeshow on March 17th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm for an insightful presentation covering farm succession planning, financial and tax planning, and managing risks. Topics include assessing your farm’s financial health, simplifying bookkeeping with cloud-based MNP’s ease, and funding opportunities through the Canada Digital Adoption Program. Snacks and refreshments provided.

SARDA Ag Research News 6

When we established ourselves in the winter of 2022, the main goal was simple: to provide opportunities and support for Northern Alberta Women in the agricultural sector. We are fortunate to have, in our area, a large number of women who are fully involved on their farms. Whether they are involved in the decision-making process of the farm or a full-time machinery operator, we knew that something was missing in our area to support these women. Let’s face it, farming is a great career and a unique way of raising a family, but some days it sure isn’t easy. The number of active farm women has risen in the past few years. According to a study by the U of A, 1 in every three farmers is a woman. According to the last census, there are 18,525 women farmers in Alberta, and this number continues to grow year after year. Where are the resources and support for these women? We knew there was a need, but where to begin?

As we began organizing our first event; our Women’s Day (April, 2022, in Falher), we quickly realized that the entire community needed support, including women living in the Smoky River Area and the Peace Country. We had an opportunity to assist a large group of women; stay-at-home moms, business owners, professionals, etc. How do we incorporate an event for all these women and still reach the same goal? We bring them together. We showcase excellent speakers who cover subjects such as mental health, farming, and gardening. Then, we provide these women with adequate resources. Resources that they can access and utilize as needed. Our Women’s Day was a HUGE success, encouraging us to organize more similar events.

Providing opportunities and support for Northern Alberta Women

On Friday, March 17th, 2023, from 10 am till 5 pm, in Falher (at the Centre Chevaliers), we are hosting a Women’s Market with the SARDA Ag Research Agricultural Trade Show. An excellent opportunity to welcome women to an Agricultural Trade Show! The market will feature unique vendors offering a diversity of products and services. From postsecondary education (Animal Health Technology, Women of Steel welding program, and Health Care Aide, to name a few), chocolates, baking and wine to wellness products and services, we will have a diverse group of vendors. We are grateful to an organization like SARDA Ag Research for allowing us to be part of this significant event in our community. This unique opportunity will showcase the support and resources needed for Northern Alberta Women in our area.

We look forward to seeing you at the Women’s market! Make sure to stop at our table and have a sneak peek at our next event.
