Stewardship—The Three Rs
Les Ingles
Your Stewardship Ministry hopes that by now all of you are familiar with our stewardship theme for 2022 which consists of three Rs: Reconnect...Reimagine...Reach….And, if you participated (in person or online) in Sardis’ worship services on October 10, 17, and 24, you heard sermons focused on each of the three Rs. And finally, you should have received a 2022 Stewardship pledge card in your mail. Your Stewardship Ministry is asking that you give prayerful consideration to your planned financial commitment to Sardis for 2022. We are making a difference in the lives of our members and our neighbors. Your financial support is very important to the continued work of the church. Our budgeting process requires that we forecast the monies we need to support Sardis’ mission, and just like our household budgets, we must plan our expenses which include salaries, facility maintenance and repair, and operating expenses. In addition, the programing which is so important for the vitality of Sardis must also be budgeted and your pledge will have an impact on the programming for 2022. In short, your pledge will allow us to carefully, prayerfully, and confidently make plans to fulfill the purpose God has for Sardis Presbyterian Church. So let us all Reconnect with each other, and Reimagine the impact that Sardis can make, and Reach out to each other and our neighbors.

Sardis to Host Room in the Inn Sardis Presbyterian Church’s mission states Exploring Faith. Changing Lives. What better way to demonstrate our faith than to invest in our local community by participating in the Room in the Inn program. Roof Above has announced it will once again be operating the Room in the Inn a life changing program this year. Sardis because of our long history bas been asked to serve as a host location for our neighbors in need. Your Session and Mission Ministry agree that it is our calling to participate in this program again. In light of the current pandemic situation proper procedures to ensure the health and safety of all involved is at the top of our list. Room Above and Sardis have developed protocols with safety as the key component. Visit www.sardis.org to review the protocol that will be followed by Roof Above and Sardis. Room in the Inn Protocol – Sardis Presbyterian Church This year there are a few changes from prior years. Neighbors will be hosted in the months January through March 2022, one night per week. We will host 8‐10 neighbors per evening. This is to ensure that neighbors are socially distanced in the sleeping quarters. Meals and social time will also be handled differently than in the past. Some of the RITI leaders from the past years are already working to put together teams of volunteers to serve our neighbors. We need you to volunteer to show that Sardis cares. There are many ways to volunteer but we need to know you are willing to serve. Contact Vic Lisciani at vlisciani@aol.com. We need you! The Communicator ~ November 2021

2021/2022 Sardis Presbyterian Confirmation Class Our Confirmation program is designed for eighth grade students or older who want to explore what it means to be a member of our church. Through retreats, classes, and working with adults, each participant will explore their faith and if willing, join the church. Our class of 2022 are all eager to learn more about God and faith. We are thankful for them and to Sardis for providing this opportunity. Please keep these youth in your prayers during this year of discovery and growth.

Sardis Weekday School The Sardis Weekday School is so grateful to expand on our weekly themes by having special guests come by to share more about our themes. October is fire safety month and Charlotte Fire Station #19 was able to come out for a visit and share some important fire safety tips with all our age groups. The fire safety theme is covered throughout the month of October for all the classes to incorporate into their lesson plans. We include them in our Community Helpers theme as well. In following COVID guidelines, we were able to have our fire fighters share with each class fire safety tips, watch a fire fighter put on his fire gear piece by piece explaining how it helps protect him/her, a show of the fire truck tools and fire hose, and finished with a photo of the fire truck. We were able to do all of this outdoors, which is a great element for little ones (who tend to be afraid) to see the large truck and fire gear in an outdoor setting. Thank you fire Station #19, Captain Bradley, and his team. The Communicator ~ November 2021
