Soda ash substitute in Cold Pad Batch dyeing

Sarex

Benefits of Cold Pad Batch (CPB)

 Relatively low cost of equipment  Less surface area  Low amount of effluent  No salt residue in effluent water (Conventional exhaust dyeing system emits up to 1 kg salt per kg of fabric)  Low steam consumption (Approx. 50 % less)  Low electricity requirement (30 - 40 % less)  Improved fabric quality  Reduced labor cost

Need of Sodium silicate

 Sodium silicate solution is used in CPB dyeing to produce a high pH in

order to fix reactive dye on cotton or silk  Purpose of the Sodium silicate is to raise the pH to approximately 11.0  Disadvantages of Sodium silicate Sensitive to water hardness

Handle impairment Reduction in absorbency Blocking of pipes  Not suitable in the process house which are using RO plant for effluent treatment  The most commonly used chemical to make highly alkaline pH is Soda ash  Soda ash comes with drawbacks of high TDS, BOD and COD

FEDA-SH - INTRODUCTION

 Feda-SH is a highly effective soda ash substitute  It is used for fixation of all type of reactive dyes on cellulosics.

 It decreases the reactive dye hydrolysis and hence increases the degree of dyeing  It is a highly effective soda ash substitute

 It shows predominant buffer action and it disperse evenly in dye solution  It has high rate of fixation  Advantage: Low TDS, BOD and COD

Stepwise procedure for Cold pad batch

1. Pad the fabric at 70% expression 2. Batch for 16hrs 3. Hot wash at 90°C for 20 min. 4. soaping with 2g/l Sarakol-1583 at 95°C for 20 min. 5. Evaluate washing fastness of dyed fabrics as per ISO 105 C10 at 60°C

Concentration: Conventional: Sodium silicate: 35g/l (108 deg T) Sarex Recipe: Feda-SH: 10-20g/l
