Editor’s Comments This is another scanned electronic version of an original booklet that I purchased on a Bid Or Buy auction to add to the archive section of the SAR Connecta Railway Museum. The official opening ceremony of the South African Railways’ Koedoespoort Mechanical Workshops took place on the 14th October 1954. To mark the very historically significant occasion, the administration released the booklet that follows, which was published by authority of the General Manager, South African Railways, and produced by the Public Relations Section, Railway Headquarters, Johannesburg. An impressive sixty-plus years on and Koedoespoort remains an integral part of the current railway engineering scene, a facility with a long and extremely proud service & delivery record for its fantastic mechanical engineering contribution to the railways of South Africa. A reminder that the DRISA (Digital Rail Images of South Africa) Project’s website is now live on the following link www.drisa.co.za and their latest newsletter (January 2017) is available for pdf download on http://drisa.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/2017_01_newsletter.pdf.
