This project used open data and scrapped data to investigate the factors affecting crime in Barcelona and to propose urban policies that address a new way of managing the urban environment in a digital society.
In particular, the research used monthly data of 73 neighborhoods over three years (2016-2018) from Guàrdia Urbana de Barcelona (crime incidents), Instituto Nacional de Estadistica (overnight tourists staying in hotels), and Airbnb (overnight tourists staying in touristic apartments) , among others, to analyse the correlation between crime incidents and factors affecting crime.
