COMMunity

When kids come to St. Andrew’s, they enter an environment that helps them discover who they are and grow into who they were meant to be. One of the four core values at St. Andrew’s is ‘Spiritual Foundation,’ which is underscored by service projects that send our students out into the community to be servant leaders.

One Saturday in October, 18 eighth grade students joined with parents and MS faculty members to paint the exterior of a family home in East Austin. The event is organized each year by iACT, a local Austin organization dedicated to fostering understanding among different religious and ethnic backgrounds while also reaching out to help families in the community. The group gathered at 9am to paint, listen to music, dance, and get to know each other better. Meeting the homeowner was a highlight–Rachel had a moving story to tell of struggle, compassion for others, and ultimately finding family in the midst of immense hardships. It was a privilege to hear her story and get to help her maintain her home. Many thanks to all the students, faculty, and parents for living the St. Andrew’s mission and being active servants in our community.
