Addicted to colour, shape, and playfulness, you can find me near anything bright and shiny. Having learnt graphic design for the last 5 years I have developed my knowledge on the subject but more importantly my style. Finding who I am, what I like, and what I can do with it. Although I know my style, I also know that it is forever changing. With every new inspirational design piece I come across it somehow affects and influences my work.

Studio: Give and Take Project: Walk The Line
SASHA MITCHELL
This heavily art directed project was based on three words, we all had different words randomly generated for us; mine were ‘state’, ‘become’, and ‘sure’. From this we could take these words any way we wanted, so I researched each one in depth. Finding out what other people think when they hear them and what effect they could have in certain contexts. I developed the word ‘become’ to transform, and taking this I used moving image to illustrate the ‘unsure state of mind’. Using eyes as the gateway to the mind, I took the circular shape of the pupils to produce my bright and intense outcomes of moving GIFs, and posters.

I was partnered with a furniture student and given a product they produced for a recent project, we were to work with them as if they were a client and learn as much as we could about the product. Putting together a photography based project that communicates the essence of the object. I was partnered with Cecelia Back, who had produced patterned ceramic plates, that could be used for decoration or tableware. Researching the clay material and the process of ceramics, I developed the project towards a photography route that illustrated the process of ceramics, and complemented the patterns of the plate. I photogramed slip I painted onto acetate, and these images worked to communicate the natural beauty of the products material and its patterns.

Sasha Mitchell Studio: Give and Take Match and Mismatch A unique gift that can be used as everyday tableware or as a striking ornament set.
This ceramic set of four plates are produced by product designer Cecelia Back, they are a process lead response to a ceramics brief given by 1882 Ltd. to create a ceramic gift. Each plate is made by rolling the clay flat with a “recognisable object, transforming the ordinary into a gift of beauty.
THE PLATES
Ceramics are classified as inorganic and nonmetallic materials that are essential to our daily lifestyle.
Ceramics are generally made by taking mixtures of clay, earthen elements, powders, and water and shaping them into desired forms. Once the ceramic has been shaped, it is fired in a high temperature oven known as a kiln. Often, ceramics are covered in decorative, waterproof, paint-like substances known as glazes.

Studio: Give and Take Project: Final Major Project
SASHA MITCHELL
My Final Major Project is based on highlighting the pain of those suffering from invisible illnesses. Using shape and colour alongside text to portray feelings. Designing and producing a spiral bound publication that forms 6 illustrations, but within these are many more in depth designs created by the viewer turning the pages. I then developed this project further using my graphic illustrations into badges and posters so they could be used as a campaign to raise awareness of invisible illnesses in a subtle and respectful way.

Design Competition Project: Summer Show
SASHA MITCHELL
Working in a group of 5, we had to design the summer show exhibition space and a pitch for our idea to get sponsored. We separated the tasks we had to complete evenly between us; I was given the role of researching and developing ideas for the signage and way finding. After putting together all our outcomes and selecting the best ideas from all aspects of the summer show design, we developed these ideas into outcomes that we then pitched to a board of judges at Accelerator, London Met Student Enterprise. Design Competition Project: Internship - CASS Shop Installation
SASHA MITCHELL
After applying to a range of internship opportunities in the field of Graphic Design, I was selected from a number of students to work with Regular Practice to produce a shop installation that can be used for the Summer Show and Hot House talks at The Cass, along with Puro Laevuo. We worked together researching and developing ideas for a unique structure that we could construct using the universities facilities. After developing a strong idea, we pitched and the design was taken on for Cass Works to build, along with help from us, for the university.

Studio: Inventivity Project: Cafe For The Future
SASHA MITCHELL
This studio project I designed a social enterprise idea for a cafe that gives back to the area in some way. Creating Breathing Space, I envisioned a space that collects, reuses and recycles products; and promotes customers to join the revolution. Including composting used coffee beans, collecting and filtering rain water, and growing produce in small urban environments. I designed a brand for this idea, and products that could be sold to promote brand, such as gift boxes. These gift boxes would give you the basic items to start growing products from your own home.
