INTEGRATED PROGRAMMING
Mount Royal Collegiate is located at the heart of Saskatoon’s west side and is a diverse community with numerous educational opportunities. It is the only high school in Western Canada that has established partnerships with post-secondary programs, including Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre, which are both housed under the same roof at Mount Royal Collegiate. Mount Royal works closely with both the Building Intercultural Resilience Mentorship (BIRM) program from the University of Saskatchewan and the Saskatoon Tribal Council Pathways program. Our students benefit from both programs.

GRADE 9 PROGRAM
Our core Grade 9 program is designed to help students transition from Grade 8 to a high school setting. A small group of staff work together as a team in setting goals and developing the academic program. We provide a safe, caring and culturally inclusive learning environment and build positive relationships with all students. Our goal is to help students develop independent thinking, self-confidence and a sense of social responsibility as they discover their own strengths and talents.
Connecting students’ learning experiences in a meaningful way is crucial to ensuring they are engaged and active learners. This is achieved through the Following Their Voices initiative that all staff and students continually contribute to throughout the school year. Students are also encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, groups and clubs to benefit their wellness goals.
MUSTANG CREE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAM
The Mustang Cree Language and Culture program is a language learning opportunity that focuses on Cree language development, y-dialect, in a culturally rich learning environment. Prior Cree language knowledge is not required for students interested in this learning opportunity. A culturally based learning environment is an integral part of the Cree Language and Culture program, including land-based education. This is achieved through a holistic approach to learning and language development, led by meaningful teacher-student relationships and enriched by the guidance of a Traditional Knowledge Keeper and Cree/Cultural teacher. Students in this cohort will engage in all core Grade 9 requirements. Students will also take a practical and applied arts class at Mount Royal Collegiate.
PRACTICAL AND APPLIED ARTS CHOICES INCLUDE:
• Building 9 (construction and electrical) • Technology 9 (machining, mechanics and welding) • Lifestyles 9 (clothing, cooking, hairstyle and esthetics)
