STOC ADVANTAGE

Students enrolled in the STOC program will have the opportunity to earn two credits in Practical and Applied Arts. The program is offered afternoons during the second semester.

Students will learn practical and theoretical knowledge in seven different construction subtrades including: electrical, framing, site surveying, interior finishing, exterior finishing, concrete forming and finishing. The course involves a combination of theory, practical labs, and on-site construction. The final class project will involve constructing and finishing a garage on site.

DIVERSE COMMUNITY

STOC is open to all students in Grades 11 or 12. Students can be registered at another Saskatoon Public Schools' collegiate and attend morning classes at their home school.

EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS AND COST

Students will be supplied with their own hard hats and safety glasses. Participants will need to supply their own steel-toe boots. There will be a $75 fee for a certified fall protection course.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Potential STOC participants need to contact Walter Murray’s Student Services office to register for the course.
