SUPERSTONE® LA CLOCHE™ #1005 The Superstone® La Cloche™ was conceived, developed and produced by Sassafras over twenty years ago. It was inspired by the ancient Etruscans who put their bread dough on hot rocks in the sun and covered it with a stoneware lid. The intense dry heat would bake the bread, producing a superior crispy and crackly crust. Now you can re-create their baking method right in your own standard kitchen oven. The dome-shaped La Cloche™ helps circulate the air throughout the piece, while the Superstone material pulls moisture from the dough, producing a crackly crisp crust and light crumb. THE SUPERSTONE® BREAD DOME™ #2577 The Superstone® Bread Dome is the ideal baker for “No-Knead” Bread, as popularized by Jim Lahey of Sullivan Street Bakery in New York. The domed shape allows air to circulate around the baker for a uniformly-browned crust. The unglazed lid helps pull moisture to create a crackly crust and light crumb like those in breads baked in professional brick-lined ovens. The added hole in the lid allows some steam to escape to ensure a crispier loaf.
