1) Size: Always keep in mind the size of your dog because a large sweater would become a problem for a small dog and small sweater would never cover up a large sized dog properly. For example, you must not choose a large sweater for toy breed or beagle breed. 2)Breed and age: You must have a solid how to know about the breed of your dog and also know its age. Some breeds such as toy breed and beagle breed have thin fur and short hair on their bodies while some breeds like Siberian Husky, Malamute, and Saint Bernard breeds have thick fur. You must choose the appropriate material of sweater that fulfills the needs of the dog to keep it warm but neither hot or cold. Age of dog matters as well. Young dogs are more active and do not require heavy sweaters but old and aged dogs do need thick sweaters. 3)Look for Zipper, buttons or tags on the sweater: Dogs like to taste almost everything. If a sweater has buttons, zipper or tags on it, there are chances that dog could swallow them. Swallowing a zipper, button or tag may cause serious problems. Therefore, check the design of the sweater, look for tags and small buttons, look for a zipper or any other metallic stuff on the sweater before buying one. It is highly recommended to go for a simple sweater and avoid any risk.
