Take in some greenery, waterfront and foliage for a feel-good experience of the natural offerings within this bustling city.

1. BRUECKNER RHODODENDRON GARDENS

660 Lakeshore Road West

Canada’s largest collection of rhododendrons and azaleas can be found in the 18-acre park that is open year round—though the floral display is as its height in early May to the end of June.

2. CREDIT RIVER

This river has a rich heritage, and for over 10,000 years was the site of Indigenous settlement. Visitors can canoe or kayak the river to explore Mississauga’s natural beauty and wildlife.

3. CULHAM TRAIL (DAVID J CULHAM TRAIL)

This 11-kilometre (7 mile) trail links Streetsville to Erindale Park to the University of Toronto's Mississauga campus allowing you to enjoy the scenic route on your next walk.

4. ERINDALE PARK

This multi-season destination offers amazing views of the Credit River and ravines, and is Mississauga’s largest park. Consider fishing for salmon or trout in the summer or tackle the great tobogganing hill in the winter.

5. JACK DARLING MEMORIAL PARK

Enjoy the waterfront at Jack Darling Memorial Park, or walk, hike or bike the scenic trails all year round.

6. KARIYA PARK JAPANESE GARDENS

For a moment of calm in the heart of the city, take in the tranquil lake and park of Kariya Japanese Gardens, named after Mississauga’s sister city of Kariya, Japan.

7. LAKE AQUITAINE PARK

Perfect for fitness enthusiasts, find trails and outdoor exercise equipment (including accessible pieces) to help with your cardio or strength-training workout. For those looking to slow down, walking trails connect you to the Meadowvale Community Centre.

8. LAKEFRONT PROMENADE

The Lakefront Promenade includes a marina and space for beachy activities like volleyball and boating—including prestigious sailing competitions and races.

10. PAUL COFFEY PARK ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND

A unique playground complete with a fairy-tale adventure (you will find castles, dragons and turrets to climb and slide.) Also includes barbecue areas, an abundance of game play spaces (including basketball, softball, soccer, bocce, cricket and tennis.)

10. PORT CREDIT MEMORIAL PARK

Enjoy a picnic, take in seasonal events, hike the pathways and trails or just enjoy a nice stroll in the park—there are plenty of ways to enjoy this green space.

11. RATTRAY MARSH CONSERVATION AREA

660 Bexhill Road

The Rattray Marsh Conservation Area protects one of the regions last remaining lakefront marshes and connects to the Waterfront Trail. Accessible walks can be found along short trails and raised boardwalks.

12. RIVERWOOD

4300 Riverwood Park Lane

Riverwood includes a public garden, nature reserve and park located along the Credit River. Walk through the trails and raised boardwalks to take in the scene, or head to MacEwan Terrace for a bit of fauna appreciation.

13. RIDE A BIKE

Spend a morning or afternoon enjoying Mississauga on two wheels, exploring the 400+ kilometres of bike lanes, multi-use trails and bike-friendly roadways. Looking for a place to start? Try the Culham Trail, Etobicoke Creek Trail or the Waterfront Trail, which are all fan-favourites.

14. RIDE YOUR BOARD

The Iceland Skatepark (next to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre) and the Wall Art at Sculpture Court Skate Park (at Civic Centre) both offer up great spaces for skateboarding.

15. PADDLE OR ROW A BOAT

Two competitive rowing clubs (The Mississauga Canoe Club and The Don Rowing Club) find their home on The Credit River— though you can also get lessons or cheer in the crowd while watching regattas. Don’t miss the Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival in June.

Fish the Credit River, which has salmon, coho and steelhead. Popular fishing spots include Erindale Park, J.C. Saddington Park and Lake Aquitaine, though make sure to go with a local charter for the best spots.

There are public golf courses across the city, including the two-time host of the Canadian Open, Lakeview Golf Course, which is also an Ontario Heritage Site. For a more highland-inspired course, try BraeBen for the scenic views.

If you're feeling brave, you can opt to see Mississauga from above by parasailing beginning in June. Your adventurous spirit will be rewarded with outstanding views of the city.

19. TRY ICE SKATING

From late November to spring, you can skate at Celebration Square for most of the day (weather permitting). Skate rentals are available on site, though you’ll find plenty of natural ice rinks around the city if you’re an avid skater.
