IZANAGI JAPANESE RESTAURANT LISBON,

Portugal

This architectural and interior design project aimed to create a new concept of Japanese cuisine. Located in Alcântara, the Izanagi restaurant opens the doors to an inviting spot, where the windows open onto a riverside balcony. The predominant natural wood, along with micro concrete and the ceramic brick, preserves the industrial memory associated with the site. The lighting is the most prominent aspect of the area of intervention: an element of illumination composed of copper and tubular lamps. A play on opacity and reflections, along with earth tones and traditional materials, provide a warm design in symbology with the homonym god of Japanese mythology, responsible for creating fire.
