HOMES OF INDIA Modular kitchen by Prakash Rao
Project Brief: An innovative kitchen design system that gives total freedom to personalise a kitchen layout, style and functionality irrespective of the size of home and budget. Live Project | Internship 2014 DDIRArchitecture Studio, Bangalore Research done with Dominic Dube
Modular kitchen Modular kitchens are building block system means we can create thousands of different combinations of frames, doors, drawers and organisers, to get the look we love and all the functionality we need. A go-anywhere, do-anything kitchen range that works to use every centimetre of space available. A kitchen that makes a style statement, effortlessly. One that not only enhances your life, but also makes it easier, every day. The design is easy to create a symmetrical, modern look without having to compromise on function. Behind the choice of perfectly aligned fronts, we can hide everything, from energy efficient appliances to storage for your stash of snacks or chocolate. Everything will have a home, in the stylish and uncluttered kitchen. There’s more to a great kitchen than good looks. And that’s where things like clever appliances and smart organisers come into play.

Infinite Wood Loop
Conoid chair by George Nakashima
Brief : To learn hand skills by working on wood and understanding the compression, tension and grains of the material. Concept : The form is an infinte loop where maximum material is carved out from a solid wooden block to give shape to the loop.
Brief : To study an existing designer’s work and understand the process, proportions, material and making techniques by replicating the piece. I chose George Nakashima’s Conoid chair, due to its unique structure, kind of joineries and use of different wood profiles to form a seating that is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable seating.
