SPIRIT HILL FARM Brasfield and Gorrie Student Design Competition, 2019 Studio V | Interdisciplinary Group: 3 Interior Designers 4 Architects 3 Building Construction 1 Graphic Designer

2nd PLACE Holly Springs, MS Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator 2,700 SF

OBJECTIVE |

Collaborate with team to remodle Spirit Hill Farm's barn to convert it into a student housing facility to accomodate student researchers. This facility will be used for housing, research, and collaboration.

CONCEPT |

Inspired by the Northern Bobwhite Quail, the primary focus of the farm that honors the history of the owners and their family. Different elements of the quail will be used for a color pallet and patterns for finishes, showcasing the history of the barn.

RESEARCH |

Demographics:The primary users are undergrad and grad students.During off season Spirit Hill Farm is going to open the facility to elementary schools for field trips and summer camps.

BARN EXTERIOR -The barn design was to protect the integrity of the building. The majority of the materials are repurposed and the window on the sides of the exterior is installed to let natural light in on both the first and second floor.

BEDROOM -To keep integrity of the building the top of the dutch doors were converted into windows to allow sunlight into the bedrooms.


PAVILLION -Community space encourages people together outdoors.

LODGING + STUDY -Custom loft beds intergrated into a segment of the wall providing abundant storage and a curtain for privacy.


KITCHEN -Kitchen area invites people to gather, connect, and interact in various levels of comfort with a diverse opportunity of seating.

THE AURUM Studio IV | Group Project: 4 Interior Designers

Hamptons, NY Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator 32,550 SF

OBJECTIVE |

Collaborate with team to design boutique hotel. Hotel must incorporate a lobby, bar, restaurant, spa, guestrooms, and rooftop.

CONCEPT |

The Aurum hotel exhibits design features and aesthetics based on the Golden Age of the 1950's. Inspired by five prominent figures from the 1950's: Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Lucille Ball, and James Dean. Each space exhibits the attitude and personality of each characater.

RESEARCH |

Guest rooms are not to be elaborate encouraging guests explore the hotel. Lobby serves as a transition and meeting space. CODE REQUREMENT: A portion of each different guest room configuration, not just one type of room, must be designed to meet accessibility standards.

LOBBY RESTAURANT -Five-to-Seven, inspired by Frank Sinatra. The overall space is inviting, but also professional, mimicking Sinatra's personality.

OBJECTIVE |

To design a space to provide a community lifelong learning center for higher education. NEXT HUB will give students access to a premier education at many stages of one's life; providing active and diverse educational experiences.

CONCEPT |

The significance of two things coming together and having an after effect influenced the higher education design. By combining education and the impact it has on people, Next Hub creates a space for many to strive to become the best version of themselves.

RESEARCH |

Key elements to a successful learning environment are pedagogy, technology, and space. These three elements must be agile enough to support diversity of the content while intergrating individual and classroom technology tools. It should also transition between different group settings.

OBJECTIVE |

Denver, CO Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator 4,400 SF

Collaborate with team to design a pediatric center for sick and well children.

CONCEPT |

Inspired by stages of a caterpillar forming into a butterfly, corresponds with an infant growing into an adult. Transformation could further be illustrated through the change in a sick patient to well patient.

RESEARCH |

Natural themes and elements have been proven to promote healing and were thoroughly incorporated throughout the space. The use of cool colors were placed not only for enjoyment, but also to further the healing process of the patients

OBJECTIVE |

To design and create a company's first headquaters facility used for Human Resources Division and Corporate Training Center. The general atmosphere of the center should reflect corporate culture and support employee health and wellness.

CONCEPT |

Merge rural roots of Blues Brew to an urban atmospher of Jackson, MS. By combining natural elements of the Delta with structural elements of the building achieves an industrial environment. Creating a space for employees that is both welcoming and stimulating.

RESEARCH |

Use of cool colors are best for workplaces where people need to be calm and relaxed. Acoustic privacy, visual privacy, and informational privacy are needed in an open office plan. Acoustical elements help reduce noise and distractions. Four pillars of ergonomics promotes health and wellness in workplace: natural reach zone, support, air quality, and vision.

ZAJEDENO Regional ASID Student Competition, 2019 Studio IV | Group Project: 2 Interior Designers

SILVER Zadar, Croatia Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator 7,000 SF

OBJECTIVE |

Work with a partner to design and create a space based on Croatia. Implementing the country's culture and architectural elements.

CONCEPT |

Zajedeno is a place to unite people together. Inspired by remains of a church in Zadar, Croatia, clover shape outline is distinguishable. Visualization of interlocking circles influenced the design. By combining elements from the remains of the church and applying to the design.

RESEARCH |

When taking into account for acoustics in restaurants noise levels change during the day. Colors affect customers on the time spent at the restaurant. Lighting design sets the mood. Surrounding areas are important. Visibility, amount of foot and vehicle, nearness and easy parking are critical to success.
