Richland County Elected Officials

In addition to County Council, Richland County voters elect officials for seven other public office positions:

Auditor: PAUL BRAWLEY

Responsible for keeping the County’s record of real and personal property as well as calculating individual property taxes

Probate Judge: AMY McCULLOCH

Responsible for issuing marriage licenses, appointing guardians to supervise the care of minors and incompetent adults, overseeing the administration of estates and handling the involuntary commitment of residents who suffer from various challenges

Clerk of Court: JEANETTE McBRIDE

Responsible for circuit and family court operations and for keeping records of the proceedings of both General Sessions and Common Pleas Court

Coroner: GARY WATTS

Responsible for investigating deaths that occur for unknown or suspicious reasons in the County

Solicitor: BYRON GIPSON

Responsible for prosecuting criminal offenses in the Fifth Judicial Circuit (Richland and Kershaw counties), protecting the rights of victims and administering diversion programs that serve as alternatives to conviction and sentencing

Treasurer: DAVID ADAMS

Responsible for collecting property taxes and receiving other revenues, such as state aid, and investing those funds until needed by the County

Sheriff: LEON LOTT

Responsible for maintaining public safety and carrying out law enforcement duties and activities throughout the County
