Summarized evaluation My thesis was written about developing bicycle tourism between Budapest and Lake Balaton. There is a significant perspective in it because of the 1364/2011. (XI. 8.) governmental decision about the developing priorities of bike routes. My study area is assigned by the proposed Budapest–Balaton cycle path and its surroundings which is enclosed by the boundaries of the settlements within 10 kilometers. I had evaluated the proposed cycle path and the study area from the aspect of suitability of implementing circular day cycle routes. It was performed by a program called ArcGIS -which helps to handle geographic informationand evaluated by raster grids. Every grid recieved a score by the signifi-

cant viewpoints of developing cycle routes as the relief, the type of land cover, the protected areas, the protected landscape zones, the accessibility, the landscape values and the informations of attractive places and useful datas of POI’s. I suggested for the cycle path to be set up by biking facilities, information network, resting areas and plant alleys regarding the traffic, the quality of the road and the relief. According to the summarized evaluation I proposed four circular day cycle routes with shorter alternative paths on my study area. Those tracks help to get to know the values of nature, culture and landscape of the surrounded area.

Bike resting place design in Szabadbattyรกn
8
Szabadbattyรกn is a small town in Hungary, between the capital Budapest and Lake Balaton where the proposed bike path will go through. Supposedly significant bike tourism will characterize this route in the future. That was the reason to build up a resting place designated in the neighborhood of Kula tower which is one of the main attractions in the town. The resting place was already under construction including the paving as well, when I get involved in the project. I have designed the green surface around the building and figured out which street furniture, bike facilities, information board would fit, and where to place them. By choosing the plants the theory was to use resistant, fruit landraces, which could be harvested by the bikers during the season, like apple, pear, raspberry and blueberry.

Sections for EuroVelo6 (Rajka-Budapest)
10
EuroVelo 6 is one of the EuroVelo routes which goes from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea. The Hungarian part of it goes along the Danube river from Rajka to Mohács just like the Roman ‘Limes’ and protected as a Natura 2000 Site. The quality of the route and the level of connected services are under continuous development. Currently the Speciálterv Építőmérnöki Kft works on its development, therefore was I assigned to make sections for the Rajka-Budapest part. I made drawings with ArcGIS for 8 alternative routes with the signature of altitude, distance, intersections and the borders of the settlements to help their analysis.

Krankenhaus Hofheim During my internship in Berlin the LA21 Landscape Architecture Office has mainly hospital designing projects. One of them was the Krankenhaus Hofheim where the entire outdoor facility package was designed in cooperation with the architects. The construction was made in two stages. The first one, the main building was completed with the main entrance than in the second one the other part of the building was planed to be done with the outdoor facilities, like a park, a garden for education and healing, water feature, greenroofs and parking lots. In this project I made lighting plans for the park, sections for supporting angles and for the healing garden and double checked many details.

Klinik Northeim During my internship in Berlin by the LA21 Landscape Architecture Office the other ongoing project was for Klinikum Northeim. The parking place and a courtyard of Albert-Schweitzer-Klinik were designed. For the functionally placed and nicely designed flowerbeds perennials, grasses and some bulbs were used like Euonymus, Spirea, Miscanthus, Tulipa and Narcissus. Decidous trees and shrubs give the vertical shape for the parking place. In the courtyard I have chosen plants which are nice during wintertime as well, just like Viburnum ‘Pragense’ or Cotoneaster salicifoilus ‘Herbstfeuer’.

Alaunpark Resindential Area, Dresden Marion Brod-Kilian’s landscape architecture office has the Alaunpark residential area open space design project during my internship. This housing estate on the outer edges of the Neustadt district used to be a military area, but now is being brought back to life. The new residential area is being built with attractive, family-friendly houses including high-quality open spaces. I made visualization for the outdoor spaces with Google SketchUp to show the ideas to the procurer. It is based on CAD drawings and build up in 3D concentrating for the main building. I rendered the pictures with Kerkythea.

FloraDesign 2013 Competition, Dresden At Marion Brod-Kilian’s landscape architecture office the other ongoing project was the FloraDesign Competition. It was an innovative springexibition and took place at the Altmarktglerie in the citycenter in January 2013. The motto was biodiversity. There were seven plots, all together about 180 square meter. I designed a single spot regarding a topic, intercultural garden with mandala forms. I provided the basic plans for the planning, cooperated in the whole planning process, and helped to choose the right plants. Finally I made visualization for a plot and helped with the posters.

A nature trail design I.

The nature trail design was a project for the municipality of the 11th district in Budapest. This is a forest in the periphery of the city which is used for leisure activities by the locals, like walking or riding. Therefore my project mate ad me designed trails for different purposes. The longest one (red) is a
common trail, everybody can use it. The blue one goes in the valley, without high altitude, so it is accessible for old people and families with baby carriage as well. The orange one is made for the bikers and riders, so they can use the forest as well without having problem with the other visitors.

Nagyberek, the waterworld Nagyberek is situated on southern bank of the Lake Balaton. It used to be a formal bay of the lake, therfore it is a swampy area with many canals which still play an important role in the ecological system of the lake. There are small scale vineyards, villages, some farms, a huge hunting area and old tramways. A huge problem of the area is the decreasing population. The aim of our team is to figure out how to develop the area which has a huge touristic potential, a great location and many natural values. The Nagyberek gives us great opportunity for half- or one-day tours by walk, by bike, by a kayak or just using the old rails. For the rural development the area should be involved in the tourism of the Lake Balaton. We figured out a service package, which includes bike renting, boat renting, drasine trail, nature trail, visiting center and information system.

Developing conception of the riverside Section of the residential area by the Danube
Camping by the Danube
24
Soroksรกr is district of Budapest and located on the bank of Danube River. The project is a developing conception of the riverside which was proposed by the Municipality of the XXIII. district. The designated area is separated to residential, commercial and recreational area with many different functions like riding school (existing already, just included in the design), playgrounds, camping area, a walkway along the river giving possibility for angling or simply walking. The existing bikeroad would stay in the middle of the area because that is a part of EuroVelo 6 and play a significant role in commuting as well therefore it is better to separate it from the walkway. A riverside is always important for the people and for the settlements, it is a valuable area therefor it should be developed in a sustainable way, with a lot of green area, water connections and minimalized traffic.

Developing conception of the Church area
Szirák is a small village, situated in the middle of Hungary, northeast from Budapest by the Cserhát-mountain. The developing conception is made by the cooperation of the Corvinus University of Budapest and the Municipality of Szirák. The main goal is to develop and integrate the system of the green area and the open spaces. The biggest contrast is between the Castle and the village. The Castle is built around 1690, currently is totally renovated and used as hotel. There are several monument in Szirák which are not in a good condition, need for renovation and some of them new functions too. Just like the manor-house, the old restaurant and the prison.
