Be Enlightened “St. Benedict at Auburndale’s mission is to educate the whole student — mind and heart, body and soul. Our academics prepare students to succeed as teachers and professors, scientists and artists, doctors, priests and anything imaginable! Since SBA is a coed, college prep diocesan school, students learn about faith and virtues while learning to be faithful and virtuous. They learn about mercy and caring for others by feeding the hungry and helping the homeless. It is this combination of faith, love and learning that makes our SBA an award-winning school.”
Most Reverend J. Terry Steib, S.V.D., D.D. Bishop of Memphis in Tennessee
“ This is a good school for people who want their kids to be in a faith-based environment, regardless of whether or not they are Catholic. Other schools may say that, but St. Benedict walks the walk.” — St. Benedict parent
“ This environment nurtures creativity, selffulfillment and personal interests. It allows you to do what you want to do and be involved in a lot of different ways.”

“ St. Benedict is a potter that takes an anxious, insecure freshman and, in four years, molds him or her into a leader, a giver, a friend, a listener, an active citizen, a servant of God and, ultimately, a student who is ready for whatever life after high school brings.” — St. Benedict student 3

The PLUS Program SBA was founded on the principle that every student can succeed. The Positive Learning Utilizing Strategies (PLUS) Program is SBA’s signature program for those students with a diagnosed learning difference and an average to above-average intelligence. It provides a series of courses designed to meet each student’s specific needs, and features a small teacher-to-pupil ratio, individual and classroom accommodations, and excellent results. PLUS classes are in the same department as other classes with the same subject matter, and students in PLUS classes may also take traditional and Honors classes.

FAITH, FUN & FRIENDSHIP As a coed, college preparatory Catholic school, SBA takes student life seriously — but not too seriously.
Our goal is to graduate well-rounded students who are prepared for life, and we know that students learn just as much outside the classroom as they do inside of it. We offer a traditional high school experience with a variety of clubs, sports and activities. We also pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, welcoming community, and our student body encompasses a diverse group of students — different genders, faiths, races, backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses — and that means a diverse set of interests.
In addition to fine arts, award-winning sports and community service projects, we have more than 50 clubs, organizations and honor societies, and we encourage student participation.
At St. Benedict, we have a place for everyone.
Catholic & Coed The world is not one gender, and neither is SBA. We believe that an education at a coed school helps prepare students for the world ahead. By attending a coed college prep school, students develop the ability to relate and work with people of both genders. As they work toward colleges and careers, a coed school provides students with a solid educational foundation and allows them to hear and understand perspectives — within a virtuous environment — that they may not be exposed to otherwise.

Student Testimonials “ At SBA, you’ll find anything, from a Forensic Science class to Psychology. In sports, you’ll find anything from football to water polo. In clubs, we have everything from Key Club to Students for Life. The point is, there really is something for everyone—an opportunity for every student to discover his or her future and, more importantly, discover him- or herself.” — St. Benedict student
“ There’s such a different mix of people here, and that’s what the real world is like. It helps us learn that everyone is different, but that we can all find ways to connect with each other.” — St. Benedict student
COMMUNITY SERVICE Community is important at SBA, both within our school walls and outside of them. In addition to our various clubs and athletic activities, we place a strong emphasis on community service. Students at every grade level participate in class service projects like food drives and sending care packages to members of the armed services. Students also volunteer with local organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Lifeblood, the Mid-South Food Bank, and Ave Maria Home. Every year for more than 25 years, a group from St. Benedict has attended the “March for Life” in Washington, D.C. The school is recognized annually, both locally and nationally, for our commitment to community service.

REACH NEW HEIGHTS As part of our commitment to producing well-rounded students, we encourage all of our students to get involved in our vast range of athletic activities. By joining one of our many SBA Eagles teams, students learn the value of teamwork, competition, character and sportsmanship. SBA Athletics also instills students with the importance of setting goals, working hard and having discipline — all traits that prepare students for the future.
The majority of our sports are governed by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA), and we continually strive for excellence, both on and off the playing field. For several years, The Commercial Appeal’s Best of the Preps has recognized SBA for overall performance, and we’ve produced state championship teams in volleyball and girls and boys bowling. Our dance and cheer teams routinely attend nationals: Our varsity dance team has six consecutive top-10 finishes at nationals, and our cheer team is also nationally ranked. In addition, our coaches have won state and regional coaches of the year awards, and they’ve coached professional athletes in the NFL, MLB and MLS, so our student-athletes are working with some of the best coaches in the state.

YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE Every venture begins with a single step. At St. Benedict at Auburndale, students receive a coed, Catholic education that includes excellent academic offerings, athletics and extracurricular activities. Located on 47 acres in Cordova, St. Benedict has a diverse student body and provides a welcoming environment to students of all faiths.
We invite you to schedule a tour of our campus or attend an Open House. Eighth-grade students are also invited to attend one of our Eighth-Grade Visit Days in the fall and experience snapshots of what a typical day is like at SBA. Students visiting will tour our campus, experience student life and meet SBA students and faculty.
TUITION & FEES The cost of tuition at St. Benedict makes it one of the most affordable private schools in the area. There are additional fees for those students enrolled in the PLUS Program, as well as for some other courses.
We offer discounts if tuition is paid in full by May 1, and we also offer discounts for families with multiple students enrolled at St. Benedict. Some financial aid is available, based on need, and awards generally range from $500 to $600 per year. To be considered, families must complete the Enrollment Process and submit an online application through FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment by April 1 at online.factsmgt.com/signin/3CF1Q.
