EAGLES ON THE AIR! You may recall that we recently streamed live our closing regular season basketball games. For those that couldn't tune in because you may have been at the games or away from your electronic device, we have archived these two games for viewing. Teachers Bret Bilbrey and Nick Dressman did a great job and seemed to have so much fun broadcasting for us. Take a look, these are two exciting games and well done productions! We hope to have this as a permanent addition to our media repertoire, if we are able to secure funding and production advertising. http://www.wsnlive.net/archives

Department of Justice, Peace, and Human Development Secretariat of Catholic Education 2016 Earned Income Tax Credit Outreach Campaign February 2016
The Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church notes: 250. In order to protect [the] relationship between family and work, an element that must be appreciated and safeguarded is that of a family wage, a wage sufficient to maintain a family and allow it to live decently. Such a wage must also allow for savings that will permit the acquisition of property as a guarantee of freedom. The right to property is closely connected with the existence of families, which protect themselves from need thanks also to savings and to the building up of family property. There can be several different ways to make a family wage a concrete reality. Various forms of important social provisions help to bring it about, for example, family subsidies and other contributions for dependent family members, and also remuneration for the domestic work done in the home by one of the parents. Millions of working poor families find it increasingly difficult to meet their daily needs and achieve financial security. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC) are two of the “important social provisions” to which the Compendium refers that help struggling families escape poverty. These powerful antipoverty initiatives deliver income support to millions of workers in low-wage jobs. Claiming these tax credits can aid in securing better housing, pursuing quality education, obtaining dependable transportation, covering out-of-pocket health care costs, or paying for quality childcare. In fact, research shows that last year, the EITC and CTC combined to lift over five million children out of poverty, making them the most potent tool the government has for fighting child poverty. Congress recently made permanent several critical provisions of these two programs, which ensured that millions of families and their communities will continue to receive this benefit. In years past, you probably received a Tax Credit Outreach Kit. For the first time, the Kit is available completely online at eitcoutreach.org, and hard copies will not be mailed out. If you have appreciated having a printed kit available, you can still request a copy. Printed posters can also be mailed upon request. From the website, you can download all the familiar resources: Tax Credit Outreach Kit Earned Income Tax Credit Facts Child Tax Credit Facts EITC and CTC Eligibility Comparison Chart EITC Estimator Outreach Materials (posters, flyers, and envelope stuffers) Running Local Outreach Campaigns Outreach Strategies Asset Development FAQs

SBA Project Graduation 2015-2016 SENIORS NEED TO REGISTER NOW!
Dear Parents: Friday, May 13, 2016 is Graduation for St. Benedict Seniors. A tradition for the St. Benedict seniors is a drug and alcohol free “lock-in” given by the senior parents. Over 95% of our seniors participate each year and they have a wonderful time. We rent out Incredible Pizza and they have unlimited play time, as well as unlimited pizza, drinks and snacks. Whether your child loves go-karts, bowling, putt-putt, laser tag or lots of video games-there is something for everyone. Each child receives a goodie bag valued at over $150 as well as super door prizes that include 32-inch flat screen TV’s, iPads and Gift Cards to name a few. It will also be the last time they will all be together as a group. Our Project Graduation committee needs your help in a variety of ways. We are looking for parents of freshmen, sophomores and juniors to get involved with Project Graduation to keep this wonderful tradition going in order that the future years maintain the success level we have experienced. If you have underclassmen, please contact the project chair for volunteer opportunities. Also, we encourage you to consider chairing Project Graduation next year. This is my last year to chair, so if someone doesn’t step up, this will be the last year for Project Graduation altogether. On behalf of St. Benedict Project Graduation, we appreciate your help. Donations are tax deductible and we would also like to offer our sponsors complimentary notice in our SBA Annual Report. Again, thank you for your support of this important event. SENIOR PARENTS, BE SURE TO SEND IN YOUR STUDENT’S RESERVATION AND PAYMENT! Sincerely, Angie Disalvo Project Graduation Committee Chair 901-833.3626 adisalvo@bellsouth.net
