Donations for the Flynn Family Over Spring Break, one of our SBA families, the Flynn family, suffered a devastating loss due to a house fire. If you would still like to help, we will be collecting gift cards and taking donations for the family through Tuesday (3/25) afternoon. You can send your gift card or donation to the SBA office. Checks can be made payable to SBA and on the memo line put "Flynn Family".
Father George Presentation All are invited to attend a presentation on Bioethics given by Fr. George Cespedes. This event will take place this Thursday, March 27, in room A107 at 3:15. Fr. George studied medicine before becoming a priest, and then studied Bioethics in Rome for several years. Bioethics is the study of ethics/morality, scientific modern advancements, and dignity of the human person. Please attend!
SBA Annual Fund Phone-A-Thon To help us reach our participation goal for the Annual Fund, we will be conducting a phone-a-thon in April and reaching out to those families who have not yet participated. We think that with our challenge of $25 for 25 years, this task will be fun and easy. If you have not yet given to the SBA Annual Fund, we ask you to please consider a gift. Our Annual Fund is vital to our school and every dollar counts. You can give online at www.sbaeagles.org/donate or you can send your donation in to the front office. Thank you so much!
Vote for SBA! First Tennessee Bank is celebrating it's 150th Anniversary and beginning on March 25th, the First Tennessee Foundation will give away $5,000 a day for 150 days to non-profits that they have been associated with over the last 6 years. THIS INCLUDES US. We have to VOTE though. You can vote daily from TWO devices, so please click the link on your computer and on your phone or tablet. We can vote each day through the end of the celebration, which is August 21st. You can actually vote for TEN non-profits each time if you want to - the list is LONG. Our daily votes will add up and hopefully we will be one of the recipients! Thank you for your assistance! This link goes STRAIGHT to our page. It is very easy. Copy and paste into your browser: http://www.150daysofgiving.com/?query=&startName=S&offset=36&max=12
The First Tennessee 150 Days of Giving guidelines are at the end of Monday Mail if you would like more information on this program.

West Side Story Book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim This 1957 Tony Award-winning musical, that spawned a 1961 Academy Award-winning film, transformed Broadway and the world with its iconic songs, haunting score, soaring dance routines and uplifting message. Inspired by impeccable source material, William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the story centers on a racial and territorial conflict on the streets of New York between two rival gangs: the Jets and the Sharks. While their friends and family battle each other an their own prejudices, a "starcross'd" couple with stark cultural differences, Maria and Tony, find each other and an unlikely love amidst the chaos. The SBA production will stay true to the original masterpiece, while attempting to augment the story by featuring some average New Yorkers in the cast who get caught up in the rage-filled world of these rival gangs. "When people are blinded by hate, everyone suffers, even innocent bystanders, so we want to show the larger world of New York a little, outside of the characters everyone knows," said director Ryan Kathman. Home and School News Greetings from SBA Home and School Parent Connection. We hope that your Spring Break was enjoyable and you are ready to dive in to the last nine weeks of this school year. We want to say THANK YOU to all the volunteers who have been working tirelessly over the last couple of months. What great events and turnouts we have had. Thanks to all who brought in teacher treats January through March. The faculty and staff was so appreciative and we received many thank you notes. The Teacher Appreciation luncheon was once again a tremendous success. Thank you to Cynthia Shah and Angie Valadie for the great job you did in organizing the event and pulling everything together. We are grateful to our many parents who donated items, cash and their talents into helping make this date a great one for our teachers and staff. The Jazz and Jeans Fashion Show was a wonderful success. Awesome turnout, great food, beautiful fashions and our fantastic emcee for the evening. Thank you Andy Wise for doing such a brilliant job in keeping the event fun and lively. Lots of great baskets and door prizes went home and a lot of money was raised for the Annual Fund. Thanks for all who helped by donation, volunteering your time to work and for coming to the event to support SBA. We hope you’ll spread the word and come back again next year. Our Father-Daughter Dance and the Honor Society Induction Ceremony reception were held March 2nd. I believe all involved had a great time and those attending these events had the opportunity to make special memories. BUT WE AREN’T DONE YET! Mark your calendars for the following: March 23rd - Mother/Son Dinner April 4th - First Friday Adoration April 8th - Monthly Teacher Treats April 13th - Father/Son Outing April 22nd - LAST HOME AND SCHOOL MEETING FOR 2013-14 May 4th - Mother/Daughter Tea May 13th - Monthly Teacher Treats May 17th - Project Graduation June 2nd & 3rd - Used Uniform Sale With all these events coming up you can see why we need our parent volunteers so much! SBA Home and School is only as successful as our parent volunteers allow us to be. We are a VOLUNTEER organization and we need VOLUNTEERS!!!!!
April 22nd (8:00AM) at our last Home and School meeting of the year we will be electing new officers and recruiting (asking for) volunteers for new chairpeople for the 2014-2015 school year events. With several of our current volunteer parents students graduating, we have MANY positions OPEN and needing to be filled. If we can’t get volunteers for these events, we will have to start canceling many events that have been LONG standing traditions at SBA. It would be a shame to see future memories in the making slip away. Please come to this meeting, find out more about the events and how easy it is to be involved and volunteer in your students’ high school career. Visit our Home and School page on the website by clicking on PARENTS and finding the link on the left side of the screen. Most of the events to volunteer are listed and give a description of what is needed. Get a group of friends together and make it fun for yourself and for all involved.
We’ll see you at the meeting. To our incoming Freshman class parents, please come to this meeting and find out how to get involved in your high school students’ life on campus.
Crossroads Concert Series SBA will host the last Crossroads Concert of the season on Sunday, April 13 at 6:30pm.
REMINDER –
Wed., April 16, is the NCAA National Signing Day for Letters of Intent to play in college. If your student/athlete is committing or signing with a college in a sport you may set-up a signing party with Sports Information Director Sharon Masterson at mastersons@sbaeagles.org/260-2871.
All signings will take place in the main lobby after school on that date and this will be the final signing day of the year.
