DA Amy Weirich addresses cyber-bullying SBA - November 17

Scared Straight – a presentation on cyber bullying St. Benedict High School hosts Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich on Tuesday, Nov. 17 for two presentations. She will meet with the students at 10 am presenting her “Scared Straight” talk on cyber bullying. That evening, at 7 pm, she will meet with parents and educators sharing the presentation she made to the students, followed by a Q & A session. In addition SBA parent Amy Howell, Author of “Students in High Gear,” will make a short statement and her books will be available for sale. Every high school student/parent needs one! Open to the Public, St. Benedict at Auburndale Theatre.

SERVICE AT SBA OPPORTUNITIES BENEDICTEENS – collecting gently used coats/jackets for Project Outreach! Please put them in the bins near the library and dining hall. Each year Project Outreach provides used or new coats/jackets to the needy of Fayette County servicing approximately 250 families.

SGA CANNED FOOD DRIVE  November 2-13 - Teacher Inspiration and Class Competition The teachers are offering extra credit class room opportunities for donating money or cans. Each student is allowed to bring up to 10 cans or $10 for extra credit. As they drop off their cans at the designated spots during all lunches, they will receive a ticket that they can bring to two of their teachers. The extra credit opportunities will vary from teacher to teacher, so be sure to have your child check with their teachers to see what opportunities are available.  November 2-20 - No-Shave November, Sweat Pants, and Tennis Shoe Buttons Buttons are being sold during all lunches that allow students another way to participate. No-Shave November $15 – Allows any male to remain unshaven Nov. 2-20 Sweatpants $15 – Allows any female to wear sweatpants under their uniform skirt Nov. 2Tennis Shoes $5 – Allows any student to wear tennis shoes Nov. 2-20 There is a discount that is available for siblings that will allow a mix-and-match of the “no- shave” and “sweatpants” buttons. The cost is $15 for the first button and $5 for the second. This discount only works with no-shave and sweatpants. Upon making their donation, the students will be added to a list and given a button. While participating, the students must wear the button on their shirts or backpacks so faculty and staff can identify them being out of uniform.

Trivia Night Fundraiser Benefiting St. Benedict Project Graduation

All Through the Years Saturday Night, November 21, 2015 SBA Dining Hall How does it work?       

$15 per player Doors Open at 6:30 p.m. Questions begin at 7:30 p.m. created by Brother Ignatius of CBU. Teams will consist of a minimum of 6 people, maximum of 8 people. In the interest of fairness – no more than 8 people per team. Door prizes are drawn throughout the night. Walk-Ins accepted at the door IF tables are available. Tables assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Limit of 45 tables.)

What’s in store?     

The contest will consist of ten rounds of ten questions for a total of 100 questions. Categories cover a wide range – something for everyone!! All team members placing 1st, 2nd and last will receive prizes! Two games of Heads or Tails Mulligans – $5.00 each or 6 for $20.00. Limit 6 per team. (Mulligans are labels that can be used as a correct answer when a team is stumped on a question.)

SBA Project Graduation Request for Help!

On November 21, 2015, Project Graduation will hold its first fundraiser “All Through the Years” Trivia Night (see registration form).

This event involves a competition of many teams of “experts” on various subjects. We are in need of help with door prizes to make this event a success. Gift cards of any monetary value are appreciated. Volunteers are always needed to help with this event.
