Visitors have many opportunities to buy fresh, eat local and support small businesses when in the Chautauqua-Lake Erie Region. In March, local sugar shacks open their doors to demonstrate the process of turning sap into syrup and hold pancake breakfasts for the chance to taste the product fresh or pick up local maple products at markets year-round. Shop weekly farmer’s markets held in many Chautauqua communities to find fresh fruits, vegetables, local meat, dairy, honey, homemade jams, baked goods, soaps, crafts, jewelry and more.
Many local farms offer the chance to pick-your-own produce allowing visitors to choose strawberries, blueberries, and cherries at peak freshness.
