A real page-turner
The Federal Reserve pointed to the Ukraine war as a reason for the price hikes.
“The news today is yet again the continued realization of the bill is coming due after far too long of big government policies ... in Washington, D.C.,” said Jonathan Williams, chief economist and executive vice president of policy for the American Legislative Exchange Committee. “The cause of all this very painful Federal Reserve action is the fact that inflation, continuing at a 40-year high, with the additional big government spending packages just passed in Washington, D.C.” Mr. Williams said more economic pain is on the horizon “I wish I had better news,” he said. “I’m usually a glass half full economic analyst on these kinds of things, but more pain ahead is what the Federal Reserve is signaling.”
Food prices, for example, have continued to soar.

Furthermore, he said, the restaurateur who owns the parklet would be presented with a bill from the city.
The Fed said it will raise interest rates another three quarters of a percentage point and signaled more increases are likely.“The Committee seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at the rate of 2% over the longer run,” the Fed said. “In support of these goals, the Committee decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate to 3 to 33¼% and anticipates that ongoing increases in the target range will be appropriate. In addition, the Committee will continue reducing its holdings of Treasury securities and agency debt and agency mortgage-backed securities, as described in the Plans for Reducing the Size of the Federal Reserve’s Balance Sheet that were issued in May.”

The latest federal inflation data showed that consumer prices have risen well over 8% in the past 12 months. In the last two months, overall inflation has leveled off, but that has been largely driven by an unusual drop in gas prices from the record highs seen earlier this year. Once gas prices stop their decline, the official inflation rate may rise again, especially since prices on a range of goods and services have steadily increased.

Prior to that, Gov. Councilmembers Meagan Harmon and Eric Friedman questioned the wisdom of the subcommittee’s recommendation that only new parklets be required to be portable. Under this plan, it would be up to restaurants whether to make existing parklets portable.
vermin.Mayor Randy Rowse was not thrilled by some of the design ideas — especially the one requiring restaurateurs “to slap paint” on the parklets to make sure they’re a dark color.
Mike Jordan, a subcommittee member, said his group thought it better to “nudge” restaurateurs into making the decision to make their parklets portable. Otherwise, he said, they might end up having to “chop holes” in their parklets to allow stormwater runoff to flow through, damaging them in the process.“We’re playing with catastrophe with blockages on the street preventing stormwater runoff,” he said. “This is my line in the sand.”

(The Center Square) — New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Wednesday morning a $250 million lawsuit against former President Donald Trump, his children, his company and two executives, saying the former president committed rampant fraud by constantly changing property values to his benefit.Attorney General James, a Democrat, also said she would make criminal referrals to the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York and the Internal Revenue Service. She said she would inform them that the 76-year-old Trump, a Republican and the nation’s 45th leader in the Oval Office, and his cohorts adjusted property values to gain favorable rates on insurance policies, loans and taxes. The filing comes 48 days before the midterm elections, where Mr. Trump’s sway or lack thereof in his party is impacting voters’ decisions. He hasn’t ruled out a run for the presidency in 2024.

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property.
