Strong home sales — many of which fueled by Crystal Lagoons® amenities — have led to four Land Tejas communities being ranked among the nation’s 50 top-selling, according to Robert Charles Lesser & Co. (RCLCO), which recently released its annual midyear report.

Milestones Land Tejas is one of the most prolific developers of master-planned communities in the Greater Houston area. Established in 1997, the company has developed nearly 20 communities ranging from 100 to 2,000 acres in size. Today, more than 60,000 residents call a Land Tejas community home.

Houston-based developer Land Tejas is nearly ready to open its second Crystal Lagoon in the Houston area. The 12-acre lagoon at Lago Mar, Land Tejas' master-planned community in Texas City, is complete, but most of the entertainment district surrounding it is not, a spokesperson confirmed. However, "the opening of the lagoon for resident use is imminent" while work on future phases continues, the spokesperson said. An invitation-only preview was held last weekend. The Lago Mar lagoon spans more than a quarter mile from end to end and has more than a mile of shoreline, making it the largest Crystal Lagoon in the U.S. in terms of length and water shoreline, according to a press release from Land Tejas. The new lagoon is nearly six times larger than the first Crystal Lagoon that Land Tejas opened, which is in the developer's Balmoral master-planned community in Humble. The 12-acre "Crystal Clear Lagoon" located in Texas City's Lago Mar development will open to the public this July during "Summer Lagoonfest," where Houston residents can enter the island-like paradise that promises an array of activities and food truck options. The lagoon first opened to residents in early June. Beginning July 15 through Sept. 13, the public can visit the lagoon, dubbed by owner and construction company Land Tejas as the largest of its kind in the country by length and waterfront shoreline, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays, according to a press release. CBA Land Capital was founded by a team of experienced industry experts who have built a reputation as trusted partners. The team is led by Paul Connor, who founded Connor Investment Real Estate in 2017 and has been involved in more than $600 million of residential and commercial real estate developments and investments— his track record in the land banking business is excellent.

The Lagoon Development Company is a Land Tejas affiliated entity led by founder and president Uri Man. Before joining the Land Tejas team, Uri was CEO for Crystal Lagoons® U.S. Corp. The company is responsible for the design, financial feasibility, capitalization, and bottom line profitability of the public access component of several lagoons in different stages of planning, construction and operation in Texas.

Land Tejas is led by a team of professionals experienced in both residential and commercial development. The depth of our experience includes site selection, feasibility analysis, creation and management of utility districts, infrastructure development, amenity development, and home owners association planning. Al Brende Owner / Co-founder As Land Tejas co-founder and owner, Al Brende is one of the industry’s most successful visionaries. Working with his late partner Courtney Grover, Mr. Brende brought a unique concept to the Houston housing market in 1997: guard-gated communities with homes priced from the low $100’s. His accomplishments include development of 20+ communities in Houston with several reaching national prominence. James Henrie Partner / Co-Owner James Henrie joined Land Tejas in 2001. As Project Manger and as Director of Land Acquisitions and Development he has managed the development of some of the company's largest master-planned communities. As Chief Operating officer, Mr. Henrie oversees project feasibility, proforma & budgets, construction oversight, investor relations, operations, sales & marketing, and overall company growth. Melanie Mangel Partner/Co-Owner Melanie Mangel brings nearly 30 years of experience. Since joining Land Tejas in 2005, Ms. Mangel has served as controller overseeing accounting, payroll, office management, cash management, and financial matters As Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Mangel’s duties now include all financial planning, financial reporting and banking relations.
