Using our Philosophy of Christian Education, create a portrait of graduate. The Portrait of an SBS Graduate will reflect the mission and passion of our school and include the core values and skills every student will have developed upon graduation from Second Baptist School.

VERTICAL ALIGNMENT IN EACH GRADE AND COURSE. Clarify learning objectives in each course and grade level. Define and document the content, skills, and learning outcomes covered in each grade level or academic course.Â
Second Baptist School has a history of rich academics and quality instruction. In years past, we dedicated resources to ensure curriculum was aligned in lower school -- our goal being to eliminate gaps and overlaps. In the last two years, we have taken vertical alignment to the next step; working closely with middle school faculty and administrators to create the best possible foundation for our students that can upon which we can build. SUSTAINABILITY OBJECTIVE #1 - COMPLETED SCHOOL MARKETING Implement a comprehensive marketing plan to enhance awareness of the school in the Houston community in order to increase admissions inquiries and applications.
OBJECTIVE #2 - COMPLETED ENROLLMENT Establish programs to increase class size in early childhood and lower school programs to impact the school’s long-term enrollment.

OBJECTIVE #3 - COMPLETED RETENTION To improve retention, create opportunities for engagement that students and parents can participate in as they transition through grade levels.

FACILITIES OBJECTIVE #1 - COMPLETED BASEBALL STADIUM Upgrade the baseball stadium and facilities to increase seating capacity for spectators and create consistent sight lines. Update the apron, scoreboard and dugouts.
OBJECTIVE #2 - COMPLETED SOFTBALL STADIUM Upgrade the softball stadium and facilities that include the practice and dugout areas, the batting cage and backstop wall. Overall improvement of the visual appearance of the stadium and surrounding area to provide a better athletic experience for softball athletes and their families.

OBJECTIVE #3 - COMPLETED E GYM LOBBY AND LOCKER ROOMS Improve the experience of our female athletes by renovating and upgrading the locker room and E Gym lobby area. Updating spaces for middle and upper school male athletes who use E Gym lockers. SECOND BAPTIST SCHOOL
EMPLOYEES OBJECTIVE #1Â - COMPLETED HIRING PROCEDURES Create procedures that allow the head of school and division heads to navigate the hiring process clearly, confidently and smoothly, which in turn will impact the quality of educators placed in each division.
OBJECTIVE #2 - COMPLETED HANDBOOKS Review and modify handbooks so that policies, expectations, and procedures for employees and students/parents are clear and accurate.
OBJECTIVE #3 - IN PROCESS EVALUATIONS Create relevant, meaningful tools for the head of school and division heads to evaluate their faculty, administrators and staff. Provide valuable feedback and institutional support to enhance the employee's ability to effectively impact each student.
Updating both our student/parent and employee handbooks were significant undertakings.
