Life-saving partnerships with Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance

We are... Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) //

Who we are and what we do // SCAA is Scotland’s only charity-funded air ambulance service. We respond to, on average, two time-critical emergency call outs every day. We are a charity and receive no statutory government funding, so rely 100% on donations from the public. SCAA forms part of the UK Helicopter Emergency Medical Service and works in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS). We operate two helicopter air ambulances, based at Perth and Aberdeen, which can reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes. We also operate a Rapid Response Vehicle at each base. Our crews are tasked through Scotland’s 999 emergency response network and are online 365 days a year. An average life-saving mission costs £2,500 – we need your support to continue saving time and saving lives.

Saving Time, Saving Lives Every second counts when dealing with medical emergencies and trauma incidents that require urgent and expert medical attention. In many cases, tasking our air ambulance crews is the fastest way to reach a patient and rapidly transport them to the most appropriate hospital. Our crews can be airborne within five minutes of receiving a call and can reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes.

Our life-saving partnerships

SCAA is proud and fortunate to have had the support of many corporate partners since we first launched in 2013. These partnerships have helped fund our work and raise awareness of SCAA in communities across Scotland. Here are a few examples of organisations we were delighted to work alongside.

Gillanders Motors Ltd

Apache North Sea

Edinburgh Airport

Peterhead-based vehicle dealership Gillanders Motors is providing vehicle support to SCAA to assist the charity in a wide variety of tasks both locally and across the country. The vehicles supplied by Gillanders have proved invaluable and enable us to fulfil a variety of fundraising and charity demands.

North Sea oil and gas exploration and production company Apache North Sea Limited has supported SCAA throughout the Covid-19 pandemic after entering into a sponsorship agreement in 2020. Since then, £200k has been donated to support SCAA’s core service. Our Helimed 79 air ambulance based in Aberdeen proudly carries the Apache logo.

SCAA was chosen as Edinburgh Airport’s Charity of the Year for 2018 and what followed was an award winning partnership. The year-long partnership was a huge success in terms of raising awareness and led to SCAA receiving over £200,000 worth of donations and in-kind support. All of this culminated in SCAA winning “Best Partner Relationship” at the Scottish Fundraising Awards hosted by the Institute of Fundraising Scotland.

How you can support SCAA

Charity of the Year/Fundraising – Increase employee and customer engagement through fundraising by choosing SCAA as your Charity of the Year or chosen charity partner. We have regular campaigns, challenges and events for you to get involved in and have some fun while helping to save and improve lives. Licensed Products & Cause Related Marketing Campaigns – Help to drive brand awareness, increase sales and improve customer loyalty by developing a commercial partnership with one of the most recognisable charity brands in Scotland. Sponsorship of Assets or Events – Align your brand with SCAA by sponsoring our distinctive yellow air ambulance helicopters so that your brand travels with our crews when they respond to every time-critical emergency. Both our helicopters and rapid response vehicles feature the branding of our long-standing partner Stagecoach. We also have a unique SCAA branded Stagecoach bus which is in operation throughout Scotland to help raise awareness of our work. Payroll Giving – A simple tax-free way for your employees to support SCAA through their wages. It’s easy to set up and staff can choose an amount that suits them. For example, if a 20% tax payer chooses to donate £10 per month this will only cost them £8 but the full £10 is donated to SCAA. 100 employees doing this would raise £12,000 a year for our life-saving work.
