Born of nature
The legendary Stressless® recliner was born on the west coast of Norway, in the small community of Sykkylven, where our main factory resides. Jens Ekornes founded the company in 1934, after which an unbroken lineage of proud craftsmen have produced some of the world’s finest furniture. A freestanding Stressless® ottoman is the perfect partner for our recliners and sofas. Why? Well, it’s not your traditional, static ottoman.
All Stressless® furniture is based on research into human anatomy, and we found that when you lean back in a recliner, your legs move forward and down for a more relaxed angle of the ankle. Most traditional, flat ottomans don’t support this sitting position. Stressless® ottomans do.
They possess a built-in sliding function that automatically follows the movement of your legs. Stressless® base colors
We use rotary cut beech veneer in all our molded furniture components and lightly steamed beech for solid wood components. The hardness of the wood makes beech furniture extremely durable, and the timber we use is a renewable resource. Beech is a natural material and variations in its pattern, color and texture make each piece of our furniture unique. Although beech is used for both solid and molded components, structural differences may be visible.
Stressless® Leather and Fabric Care kits
Stressless® offers its own leather and fabric (including microfiber) care kits that match the high quality of our furniture.
The Stressless® Leather Care Kit (Medium/Large) contains a leather cleaner and protection cream. Stressless® Leather Care Wipes are also available. For maintenance and to make the leather more resistant to stains, the protective cream should be applied to all your recliner’s leather surfaces when it’s new. We recommend that you clean the leather with Stressless® Leather Cleaner at least once every six months to keep your leather looking its best, and to remove stains regularly. This will ensure a long leather life. Always apply the protective cream after cleaning.
The Stressless® Fabric Care Kit contains a fabric cleaner, a stain remover and an Ox cleaner. It contains everything you need to clean your furniture in minutes–without removing the fabric cover. For resistant stains, use the fabric cleaner with the stain remover and Ox cleaner.
These are the only cleaning products recommended by Stressless®. Stressless® accepts no responsibility if cleaning products other than those recommended by Stressless® are used and cause damage to the leather.

All our leather is manufactured in keeping with current laws and guidelines for animal welfare, health, safety and the environment. We work alongside recognized international institutions to ensure that we’re always up-to-date.
Our inspectors also take part in the leather selection process from our chosen tanneries. We maintain the highest standards so that you always make a great choice – regardless of texture, softness, color and how you want the leather to look and feel. We offer three types of leather – from the most exclusive and delicate to the more robust in quality.
BATICK is a corrected, pigment improved and grain embossed upholstery leather, which has had most of its natural marks removed. Batick may have a two-tone color effect to liven up the surface. Batick is resistant to fading, although changes in color will occur over time due to use and exposure to light. A protective layer of lacquer simplifies cleaning. Simple cleaning, excellent utilisation properties and a favourable price make Batick a good choice.
PALOMA is a slightly corrected leather with a combination of dyes and pigments that smooths down some of the structure (the grain pattern) of the leather. The grain structure in Paloma may however vary a little at some parts of the furniture and also minor color nuances may appear in the leather. Natural marks, scars and insect bites are natural and will appear in Paloma. A thin coat of lacquer gives Paloma some protection and simplifies cleaning, but Paloma does not have the same heavy duty quality and protection as Batick. Due to its soft, natural and comfortable expression, Paloma is a very popular choice.
NOBLESSE is the most exclusive leather quality offered by Ekornes. It is a full grain semi-aniline, which means that it is dyed all the way through and has only a thin protective topcoat. This allows the leather to keep the natural softness and lustre that characterises a first-class furniture leather. A natural material like Noblesse retains its original grain and structure. Minor color nuances and skin blemishes may also occur. Such individual details could lead to slight variations in different parts of the furniture cover. Although the topcoat provides a measure of protection, Noblesse is the most delicate of the leather qualities that Ekornes uses. It absorbs moisture easily, and is more vulnerable to wear and tear, heat, sunlight, spills and perspiration. Regular maintenance is important to keep its attractive appearance.

CALIDO is a sustainable, soft Norwegian wool with an exclusive look. Calido is a wool fabric with an exclusive look and feels comfortable and soft next to your skin. It’s available in a diverse and exclusive color palette. Wool is a natural fiber that breathes, making it feel warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. 80% wool, 20% polyamide.
DAISY is an exceptionally soft fabric, made from recycled plastic. It’s a very soft and comfortable fabric that’s made from recycled bottles. The silky soft fiber is weaved with a light structure and a soft pile. The harmonious color palette has a nice sheen and play created by a weave with different nuances and structure. Daisy is a good choice if you’re looking for a sustainable, strong fabric with a soft touch and easy maintenance. 100% GRS certified polyester PET.
DINAMICA is comfortable, breathable and easy to clean. It’s a well-known micro fiber-quality fabric, with an appearance that resembles suede leather. Dinamica is soft, very comfortable, breathable, non-static, and highly wear resistant. 88% polyester, 12% polyurethane.
GRACE is a soft, silky, trendy velour made from synthetic fibers. Its soft, silky texture provides a fine sheen and an attractive interplay of colors. Grace is highly resistant to wear, very durable, and easy to clean. 92% polyester, 5% cotton, 3% latex.
ULTRASUEDE is only available on products produced in our factory in Morganton, NC. It’s not available on recliners.
Stressless® Laurel Low (L) with Arms, D200 Calido Light Beige/Oak Natural
10 Year Internal Mechanism & Construction Guarantee
We guarantee the internal mechanism and construction of our recliners and sofas for a period of 10 years from the date of initial delivery to the consumer. The 10-year guarantee covers the mechanical functions in the recliner/sofa. The 10-year guarantee covers the internal framework of steel and/or wood, including the metal springs.
The 10-year guarantee does not cover damage to leather, woodwork or any faults or damage caused by the use of the product other than in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, as well as any faults or damage arising from any repairs made by any persons not authorized by the manufacturer or use of non-original parts. Some natural settlement and indention in the padding and foam is considered normal and is part of a break-in process.
5 Year Warranty on Base, Foam and Power Motor/Mechanisms
The 5 year warranty covers the base for the chair and ottoman, including the swivel ring, gas lift, extensions as well as all foam and interior padding in the chair and ottoman. Also includes electronic parts and motor for Power mechanism and all accessories. Please note that some deformation and indention in padding is considered normal and is part of a break-in process.
2 Year Power Battery Guarantee
We guarantee Power Batteries for a period of 2 years from the date of initial delivery to the consumer. This guarantee only applies to the battery units offered by Stressless®; use of 3rd party batteries with Stressless® products will void the entire Stressless® warranty.
1 Year Leather and Fabric Guarantee
This guarantee covers all leather or fabric upholstery including stitching and zippered assemblies for a period of 1 year from the date of initial delivery to the consumer.
