Outstanding fuel economy Our state-of-the-art Euro 4 and Euro 5 EEV engines combine unique high-pressure injection with Scania EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). The result is better fuel efficiency and lower emissions at all times and in all driving conditions. Our gearbox options complement these engines to help achieve truly outstanding levels of fuel efficiency, while meeting the most demanding emission regulations. Exceptional driveability Relaxed performance starts with an engine that has plenty of torque and a perfectly matched transmission. Our engines deliver up to 2,250 Nm at 1,100–1,450 r/min. You get fantastic cruising power and high average speeds over long distances. The Scania ESP stability program significantly improves safety. And when it’s time to slow down, our electronic antilock brake system (EBS) gives you strong and predictable control. A pneumatically controlled and widely adjustable steering wheel that is simple to adjust and lock into position. Ergonomically designed for relaxed driving and easy access to and from the driver’s seat. High torque from low revs – Up to 2,250 Nm at 1,100–1,450 r/min for unrivalled starting power, acceleration and relaxed driving. A 12-speed gearbox perfectly harmonised with the topof-the-range 420 hp and 480 hp turbocombined engines combined with Scania Opticruise for automated gear changes. For the driver this means smoother, faster shifting, less noise and optimum fuel economy in all conditions. All this leads to more relaxed driving and better operating economy. The fuel-saving 5- or 6-speed automatic gearboxes are also available for the 270 hp to 340 hp engines. A combined Opticruise and retarder lever enables you to control both functions with the tip of one finger. World-class brake performance is now enhanced with our electronic antilock brake system. The Scania Retarder delivers 3,500 Nm of powerful braking torque to maintain constant speeds downhill. Fully integrated systems – Scania Opticruise, Scania Retarder, electronic braking system (EBS) with disc or drum brakes and ABS – all interact to secure passenger safety and raise driver satisfaction. Scania EGR reduces emissions in all driving conditions – from the stop-go congestion of city traffic to longdistance cruising on the open road. Scania EGR operates independently of the exhaust gas temperature to guarantee compliance with Euro 4 and Euro 5 EEV. Cuts emissions during combustion Scania EGR reduces emissions before they arise in the combustion chamber. Here’s how it works: Controlled amounts of the exhaust gases are cooled by an EGR cooler and recirculated into the engine to achieve a lower combustion temperature that reduces nitrogen oxide emissions to the required levels. Particulate matter is lowered by Scania’s high-pressure injection system. The result? Our Euro 4 solution cuts nitrogen oxides by 30 per cent and particulate matter by 80 per cent, and achieves outstanding fuel economy.

With the flexibility of the Scania K-series it’s possible to build a wide variety of coach types with varying floor heights and driver positions. And every solution is characterised by the same high level of comfort, reliability, safety and operating economy. Simple, flexible bodybuilding On the Scania K-series the entire curbside is free from components, which makes it possible to integrate a toilet in the middle or rear, a rear door or additional luggage capacity. In addition, the top of the frame is entirely flat, which facilitates bodybuilding. Thanks to the rear-mounted, vertically installed engine, the luggage compartment stretches all the way between the front and rear axles and can be made both large and easily accessible.

Safe, powerful braking The Scania K-series comes with electronic antilock brakes as standard, all round. And all our engines offer powerful exhaust braking. Together with Scania’s integrated hydraulic Retarder you get a very dependable and safe braking system for all situations. The Scania Retarder boosts safety levels – in part by preventing brake fade on long downhill gradients – while simultaneously reducing wear on the wheel brakes.
