01 business card design brief:
The brief was to design a business card for a new dog walking business. Apart from a request to use the colour blue, I was given complete creative freedom. So I had fun drawing these two dogs, one small, one big to show the diversity of dogs that she is willing and able to walk. I decided to draw them in a simplistic cartoon style, which seemed both friendly and too reflect the fun nature and age of the client. I then mockups as you can see on the right-hand side to bring the design to life.

logo & soundcloud banner brief:
A DJ required a logo to appear on her Soundcloud account and on posters advertising upcoming events. She asked me to come up with an illustration of a female DJ and her name that goes with the logo, but also works alone. I made sure to get her input throughout the process but she was nevertheless surprised and delighted with the end result because I managed to incorporate details such as her decks and the necklace she always wears when performing.

03 LOGO DESIGN brief:
I was asked to re-design a logo for a seamstress working on predominantly equine products. The client wished to branch out and required a neutral style logo which would appeal to her current equestrian customers but also to other businesses and to individuals. She hoped that the logo would be instantly recognisable. Initially the only other criteria were that it was in one colour and that somewhere it read “Made in England”. Later the client adapted her brief, asking for a simple but interesting P.

04 digital mascot design the brief on Linkedin, the client was brief: Advertising looking to create a digital version of the much-loved mascot which stands proudly outside a famous ice cream shop in Whitley Bay, near Newcastle. The digital version needed to be instantly recognisable, smiling and waving and was intended to visually enhance future Facebook and Linkedin posts. From the pictures sent I created a cartoon version by freehand drawing it in Procreate.

05 business card design brief:
A florists required a re-design of their business card. They requested the design reflect their line of work but that it not be overly flowery and colourful. They asked that it look professional and high end and that, if possible, there be a slight heavenly aspect to the design to match the name of their business. They were pleased with the result, particularly the rays of light in the background surrounding the name on the front and the info on the back.

06 logo,bag & tag design brief:
The brief was to conceptualise a high-end fashion brand and design its logo, a clothes tag and carrier bag. I picked the name and based the logo on a real butterfly called the “Holly Blue”. I liked the implied correlation between women updating their wardrobes each season and butterflies emerging from their chrysalis, transformed. I chose this butterfly because it’s undeniably beautiful and because, in fashion terms it seems classy and understated. I then used this butterfly as a basis for my design.

07 logo & menu design brief:
This was a college project where we had to come up with an advertising material, a design for a menu or loyalty card or designs for the shop front. I chose to create a logo and a menu design for an award- winning fish restaurant called “The Seafood Cafe”, famed for its cuisine and its family friendly atmosphere. With children in mind, I opted to create various seafood characters and featured them throughout.

08 illustrations brief:
Just for fun and without a brief, I submitted some designs to Red Bubble, a website where people can order/upload original illustrations and have them made into stickers, phone cases, placemats, T-shirts etc… I have also recently been experimenting and creating custom illustrations, turning photographs into digital form and selling them to my friends and family to make some extra income. I particularly enjoy creating new characters from scratch as well as putting my own twist on well known cartoons.

09 movie poster design brief:
This was a task in college where we were asked to come up with several different options for a horror movie poster. I decided to go for the third Saw film because it is one of the only horror films that I have watched. I watched the film multiple times to find some of the key elements, and moments of the film that were recongnisable and turned them into the focal point of the poster. I picked my favourite and created a mock-up to show what the poster would look like in real life.

10 3d and creative type brief:
This was a task I was given in college, to explore typography and its impact. I was to pick well-known sayings or phrases and design simplistic postcards that included little or no illustrations and relied on the text to capture the meaning or feeling behind the phrase. The right-hand page shows my use of materials, in this case matches and confetti, to create 3D typography. Many hours were spent carefully arranging individual matches and pieces of confetti in order to create 52 individual letters.
