Floriade Expo 2022

In 2022, the once-a-decade Dutch international horticultural expo, Floriade, will celebrate all things floral in the ‘garden city’ of Almere. You’ll be able to visit the Expo, which runs from May to October 2022 as part of our Windmills, Tulips and Belgian Delights itinerary, or you can add it as a pre or post cruise extension on select Europe river cruise itineraries. Just outside of Amsterdam, the park will come alive with the sights and smells of flowers, fruit and vegetables. Adopting the theme Growing Green Cities, exhibitions from over 30 countries will be invited to display solutions to living a greener, more sustainable lifestyle. Ride the 850-metre cable car network between the southern and northern parts, enjoying a stunning view of the inspiring gardens beneath.

Motorworld

This exclusive new Scenic Enrich experience, available on your Jewels of Europe river cruise, explores the rich heritage of German motoring. After a welcome drink with canapés, your guided tour of Motorworld takes in a veritable showroom of vintage, classic and Formula 1 vehicles. The private collection of Michael Schumacher is a permanent exhibition here and guests can admire go-karts from his early days, as well as unique memorabilia and many of the champion’s Formula 1 cars. And, you’ll have the opportunity to put your pedal to the metal on one of the race simulators.

Les Bassins de Lumières

In Bordeaux, be treated to exclusive access to the largest digital arts centre in the world and visit Les Bassins de Lumières. Join the Scenic Enrich experience where, after-hours with a glass of champagne in hand, you’ll be guided through this immersive and one-of-a-kind digital art exhibition. View the works of artist Gustav Klimt projected onto the 12-metre-high walls of what was once a WWII submarine base.

A DAY IN EUROPE WITH SCENIC

On a 5-star, truly all-inclusive Scenic river cruise through Europe, there’s always something to do. If you’re wondering how to spend your time, here’s what a typical day might look like as you wind your way along the enchanting waterways.

Fisherman’s Bastion, Budapest

Early risers

Order your morning coffee, tea or juice the night before and your butler will hand deliver it to your suite at your nominated time. Watch the sun rise from your private Scenic Sun Lounge or head up to the Sun Deck for morning yoga with the Wellness Coach. From 6:30am, enjoy a light breakfast, from the River Café.

Morning exploration

After breakfast, it’s time for your selected Scenic Freechoice activity, which may include an e-Bike ride, a guided walking tour through chocolate box villages or an immersive cultural encounter. Your personal Scenic Tailormade App* will allow you to hear your local guide as you take in the picturesque scenery.

Morning

For a full and hearty breakfast, choose from the extensive breakfast buffet or dine à la carte in Crystal Dining Room from 7:30am. You may like to toast the day ahead with a glass of champagne. You may also like to head to the wellness area for a gym session or relaxation in the Salt Therapy Lounge* .

Late morning

Depending on the duration of your Scenic Freechoice activity, there may be time for independent exploration of local sites, souvenir shopping or market visits, or unhurried meandering. Your Scenic Tailormade App is designed to guide you even if you choose to explore independently.

Afternoon

Your Space-Ship may reposition to an exciting new location or remain docked in the same place – in which case, you could borrow an e-Bike and continue to explore the town. If cruising, you might like to unwind in the Panorama Lounge, attend the interesting afternoon lecture on board or relax on the Sun Deck.

Scenic Enrich, Palais Liechtenstein

Evening

One evening you will be transported to a magical location for your Scenic Enrich experience. Be immersed in the atmosphere of sites such as Palais Liechtenstein, Rastatt Palace and the temple of St. Sava. Later, return to the ship and enjoy live entertainment in the Panorama Lounge.

Lunch

Return to your Scenic Space-Ship for an à la carte lunch in Crystal Dining Room and catch up with fellow guests and crew about your morning’s pursuits. Enjoy a glass of wine or champagne as you take in the scenery. After lunch, spend your time as you like, either on board or onshore. You may take the time for a massage by a member of the wellness team^ .

Dinner

Enjoy a pre-dinner drink with new friends in the Panorama Lounge. Your Cruise Director will brief you on which highlights await you tomorrow. Dine in Crystal Dining Room where you can enjoy a five-course à la carte banquet. One evening, you’ll be invited to dine at Portobellos/L'Amour where you will savour the freshest produce matched with local wines.
