UPCOMING EVENTS

February Lino Tagliapietra da Murano allo Studio Glass | opere 1954-2011

Murano allo Studio Glass Opere 1954-2011 has been published by Marsilio Editori in both English and Italian, with texts by Rosa Barovier and Tina Oldknow.

Schantz Galleries is pleased to announce a significant exhibition of works by renowned contemporary glass artist, Lino Tagliapietra, in his native Italy. Maestro Tagliapietra is honored to have the opportunity to exhibit in a prestigious and historical space provided by The Istituto Veneto di Scienze, Lettere ed Arti at the Gothic Palazzo Cavilli Franchetti on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. This is a rare opportunity to see a large-scale exhibition of the work of a Venetian maestro in the setting where the grand history of Venetian glass began. The exhibition spans more than fifty years of Tagliapietra’s career and presents early works of the 50s, 60s and 70s that testify to Lino’s influence as a contemporary Venetian maestro. However, the showcase of the exhibition will be the artist’s recent masterpieces. The exhibition opens on February 19, 2011 and will run for approximately three months. It is curated by Rosa Barovier, an esteemed art historian who has authored many books on Venetian glass. An exhibition catalog Lino Tagliapietra, da

The exhibition illustrates Singletary’s artistic evolution over the past two decades and culminates in a dynamic new body of work created during his 2008 Visiting Artist Residency at the Museum of Glass. Contact the gallery for more information. This coming late Spring, Schantz Galleries will be publishing a catalog of new works by Singletary. CAST CUT BLOWN SCULPTED AND POLISHED

Schantz Galleries is delighted to present 6 @ SOFA, showing April 14 – 17, 2011 at the Armory in New York. Some of the 6 @ SOFA highlights include geometric wall installations that are collaborations by Benjamin Moore and Louis Mueller, elegantly classic forms by Dante Marioni and intricately accurate botanicals by Deborah Moore. Robin Grebe brings introspective figures to the exhibit while elegant cut glass of Martin Rosol and luminous cast works of Latchezar Boyadjiev convey the Czech relationship to American studio glass.
