Grenoldo Frazier Grenoldo Frazier is a nationally-respected musician and actor who composed the gospel musical Mama I Want to Sing. He co-starred with the world-famous Pearl Bailey in Hello Dolly! and won a Best Supporting Actor (Off-Broadway) award for his performance in Bill Harris’ Robert Johnson - Trick the Devil. His performance will showcase the music of Fats Waller, Ray Charles, and Louis Jordan.

DINA TEMPLE-RASTON The Arab Spring DINA TEMPLE-RASTON is NPR’s
go-to correspondent for issues related to national security and the Middle East. Her reporting can be heard throughout the week on NPR's many newsmagazines. Since joining NPR in 2007, she has become one of the most recognizable voices on the radio network. Reporting on everything from racial discrimination to foreign affairs, Temple-Raston comprehensively covers the issues that affect Americans on a daily basis. She will join Scholars Forum to discuss the ongoing Arab Spring.

MARK PLOTKIN is an ethnobotanist, explorer and incredible
lecturer who first visited the rain forests of South America in 1979. He has been studying the medicinal use of plants by indigenous peoples of the region since. Dr. Plotkin has authored several books, including Tales of a Shaman's Apprentice and Medicine Quest: In search of Nature's Healing Secrets. His efforts have also been documented in the IMAX film "Amazon." Dr. Plotkin is the president of The Amazon Conservation Team, an organization that seeks to protect the Amazon through its indigenous peoples.

DOC HENDLEY Wine to Water As the founder and president of Wine SCHOLARS FORUM To Water, NC State alum Doc Hendley Monday, January 23 has become an international crusader for clean water. In 2003, 3:00 pm, Stewart Theatre while still a student, Doc held the first fundraiser for what would become Wine to Water. With the proceeds, he traveled to Darfur and spent nearly a year there installing water systems. In 2009, CNN named him a Top 10 Finalist for their Hero of the Year award. Wine to Water is active in 9 countries, including the Sudan, Uganda, India, Ethiopia, and Haiti. Doc will be honored during his visit as the 25th Annual Role Model Leader Award recipient.

DAN NEIL Revenge of the Electric Car Revenge of the Electric Car follows four entrepreneurs from 2007 through the end of 2010 as they fight to bring the electric car back to the world market during a global recession. DAN NEIL, Pulitzer Prizewinning automotive journalist and NC State alum, will show clips from the film (in which he is featured) and discuss its impact.

ALLAN TANNENBAUM 70’S MANHATTAN Take a wild ride through Manhattan in the 1970s. Photojournalist ALLAN TANNENBAUM will share photographs and personal recollections from his book, New York in the 70s, which documents an exciting chapter in New York's history-and captures a remarkable body of work produced by Tannenbaum while he was a photo editor of the SoHo Weekly News in New York City. By photographing everything from street gangs to disco divas, from homeless to Hollywood stars, Tannenbaum has assembled a personal diary of his journey as a photojournalist and raconteur through a strange and exotic era of New York life.
