Faith at Oak Hill
Oak Hill School creates an environment that enriches a child’s spiritual and moral development. Students are encouraged to express their own uniqueness and are allowed to take risks and make mistakes in a safe community of faith. During Bible classes, boys and girls learn through studying Old and New Testament stories and demonstrate their understanding of their faith by sharing personal reflections and prayers during daily devotions and Flag Raising.

chapel at OHS
Chapel provides a dedicated time to demonstrate the importance of a community of faith, while gently cultivating spiritual practices and traditions. Students attend chapel services twice per month. While chapel services vary by grade level, each serves students in age-appropriate ways. The PreK through 1st grade chapel may include songs, prayers, picture books or skits, while chapel for students in 2nd through 6th grade will feature a brief message as the core of the service. Both Chapels are led by OHS Bible teacher, Reverend Sarah McWhirt-Toler. Parents are always welcome to join students and faculty for chapel services.

character Building Foundations of Character at OHS
Oak Hill Character
Social Emotional and Spiritual Learning (SESL) is implemented in innovative ways at Oak Hill School. SESL provides children with tools to deal with their emotions in situations they face, both in school and outside of it, including: ❱❱ Active listening
The OHS community fosters our mission to lead lives of character and integrity.
❱❱ Self-awareness ❱❱ Cooperation ❱❱ Empathy
We teach virtues to students purposefully and intentionally to cultivate a community of grace and empathy.
We embrace a diverse and inclusive community of learners through the lens of social-emotional learning and spiritual growth.
In these formative years from five to ten, kids are developmentally ready to grapple with issues of right and wrong, being accountable for their words and actions as they affect other people, and learning to reason on their own what it means to be a person of character. ~The Big Disconnect by Catherine Steiner-Adair, EdD, and past speaker at the OHS Common Trust Speaker Series

Oak Hill graduates possess an academic confidence as they move to their next schools following sixth grade. The foundation provided at Oak Hill School places students on the educational path for high achievement at all levels of schooling.
Oak Hill School provided me with the right tools to build good habits and the foundation needed to be a lifelong learner, both inside and outside of the classroom. My time at Oak Hill helped define and shape who I am now and the person I will become.
Diversity Mission Statement At Oak Hill School, we believe that creating a community of love and belonging for all Oak Hill students is foundational to our mission. We believe that each person embodies a unique expression of God's image. Our call is to build children's empathy through the mirrors of self-reflection and windows of understanding into the range of backgrounds and experiences of others, preparing them to lead and serve in our dynamic, multicultural world. Most importantly, as a school, we seek to radiate the glory of God's unconditional love.
