Keep your Brushes Clean

One sure way to clog your pores with bacteria is using unsanitary makeup brushes. Washing your face twice daily, using excellent skin care products, wearing sunscreen, drinking lots of water – these are all steps to take towards more radiant skin. But with every day that we apply makeup, we create a nesting ground in our brushes for microbes and germs. So rather than stressing about it, just start a new habit of washing your makeup brushes often. Beauty professionals use a sterile solution to clean their brushes - these products can be found at department stores and/or beauty supply stores. If you prefer to use products you already have at home (money saver!), use facial cleanser or shampoo according to your preference. They both have the power to thoroughly clean your brushes and are free of irritants. 1. Moisten brushes thoroughly under warm running water. 2. Put enough shampoo or cleanser into palm of hand to completely cover brush, then move in a circular motion to loosen makeup particles. 3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water until water runs clear. 4. Allow to air dry. Repeat this process every two weeks at the very least. If you use a brush to apply liquid makeup (such as concealer) brushes need to be sanitized every day.
