Welcome to The Bolton Impact Trust’s School improvement offer for the Academic year 2024-25.

The Bolton Impact Trust is a Multi Academy Trust of Alternative Provision Academies and a Special School. The trust works with Bolton LA and the surrounding authorities to offer bespoke Alternative Provision Education to pupils across all Key Stages and also provides bespoke training to Alternative, Special and Mainstream professionals.

An important part of our outward facing approach is to work with colleagues from other Schools, Academies, MATS and Local Authorities. This work usually involves carrying out reviews, delivering training and sharing resources. Here at the Bolton Impact Trust, we have a dedicated, experienced team of staff who work as part of our training delivery team.

OUR SCHOOL SUPPORT TEAM

Before Paul became our Chief Executive Officer, he worked as a Head teacher and then as our Executive Principal. Under his executive leadership, our Academies have been judged Outstanding by Ofsted on nine occasions.

He has twenty years’ experience in school leadership and has spent the last five years working locally, regionally and nationally on school-to-school support assignments.

Paul specialises in behaviour, internal alternative provision, school self-evaluation, MAT leadership, staff wellbeing and Governance

REBECCA LEONARD- DIRECTOR OF ACADEMY OPERATIONS

Rebecca currently works across the Bolton Impact Trust as our Director of Academy Operations and before this worked as the Head teacher of one our Secondary Alternative Provision Academies which secured its third Outstanding Ofsted judgement under her leadership.

Rebecca also works as a School SIP and specialises in Safeguarding, Policy and Compliance, AP curriculum, AP leadership and HR processes.

ALISON WOOSEY- DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS

Alison currently works across the Bolton Impact Trust as our Director of Educational Standards and before this, worked as the Head teacher of one our Secondary Alternative Provision Academies which secured its fourth Outstanding Ofsted judgement under her leadership.

Alison specialises in research-led approaches to AP curriculum and AP Leadership. She is also the CPD lead here at the Bolton Impact Trust.

DR CHRIS FIELDING -ACADEMY LEAD PRIMARY

Chris is an experienced school leader who, before joining the Trust, was a mainstream primary school Head teacher. He is currently the Head teacher of our Primary Alternative Behaviour Academy. Over many years Chris has supported thousands of trainee teachers by providing training for ITT providers.

Chris specialises in behaviour, primary AP curriculum and school leadership

Byron has been with the Trust for over twenty years and has experience of running the Trust’s vocational skills academy and more recently as a Deputy Head teacher in one of our secondary Alternative Provision Academies. He has worked for many years in an outward facing capacity and has carried out behaviour reviews in a number of Alternative Provision settings

Byron specialises in Vocational study, behaviour, AP leadership and home/school partnerships

GEMMA MORRIS- PERSONAL LEARNING LEAD SECONDARY

Gemma has many years of experience working across Medical and Behaviour AP Settings. She is currently the Personal Development Lead (SLT) in one of our Secondary Alternative Provision Academies and before that worked in our pregnancy unit. She has delivered training on student profiling processes to mainstream and AP colleagues

Gemma specialises in leading Personal Development across the curriculum, Careers and student profiling

COLLETTE MORRIS- DESIGNATED SAFEGUARDING LEAD

Collette is vastly experienced Alternative Provision leader who currently works as the Safeguarding Lead (SLT) in one of our Secondary Alternative Provision settings. She has delivered training and acted in a consultancy capacity to a range of settings and her systems are widely regarded as high quality.

Collette specialises in Safeguarding and working with external stakeholders

ANDREA WHITEHEAD- SEND LEAD

Andrea has many years of experience in special school leadership and is currently the Pupil Support and SEND Lead in our Secondary SEMH Academy. She was an integral part of the leadership team who helped move the school from Inadequate to Good in 2019 and she has developed SEND systems that are now widely recognised as excellent practice. She has advised and supported schools with their approach to meeting student needs.

Andrea specialises in SEND, managing EHCP processes and working with external stakeholders.

MELISSA SMITH- DEPUTY ACADEMY LEAD QUALITY OF EDUCATION

Melissa was a Maths teacher prior to moving into special school leadership where she now holds the position of Deputy Head with responsibility for Quality of Education in our Secondary SEMH Academy. She was an integral part of the leadership team who helped move the school from Inadequate to Good in 2019. Melissa was the architect of our ‘Personal Success Target’ approach to measuring success and has trained many colleagues in assessment methodology.

Melissa specialises in Special School curriculum, data systems and special school leadership.

NICK HOCKENHULL- EXTERNAL CONSULTANT

Before he retired in August 2022, Nick enjoyed a stellar career as an English teacher, mainstream pastoral lead and as the Head teacher of one of our Secondary Alternative Provision Academies. He now works as one of the Trust’s External advisors working with our Academy teams and with the schools we support.

Nick specialises in curriculum design, English, school leadership and pastoral interventions. He also carries out whole school behaviour reviews and audits of internal AP provision.

SAFEGUARDING

Description: Advice, support and training from our experienced Trust and Academy DSL teams including systems, processes and engaging successfully with Agencies

INTERNAL ALTERNATIVE PROVISION

Description: Support with developing best practice in mainstream internal alternative provision. Advice focuses on referral and review processes, building a catalogue of interventions and analysing what successful placements look like. The package will include access to our AP checklist

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

Description: Behaviour review visits from our team which will comprise meetings with school leaders, staff and students, analysis of data, visiting lessons and analysing the impact of policies and interventions. All reviews are followed by a recommendations report.

EHCP PROCESSES

Description: An introduction to the processes which allow us to track student progress against the recommendations in their EHCPs (Education Health and Care Plan)

Description: Advice support and training around developing Trust-wide and Academy curriculum intent statements and how to ensure that curriculum implementation is a high standard

Description: Full access to the team who lead our Vocational Skills offer across the Trust and access to our curriculum plans and resources

Description: Advice, support, and training from our experienced team of leaders who have responsibility for work experience, careers education, meeting Gatsby benchmarks and supporting AP and Special School students with securing successful post-16 destinations

Fees quoted are correct at the time of publication. All fees quoted are exclusive of VAT which will be charged where applicable. Payments should be made to The Bolton Impact Trust.

Notes

1. At the outset, the resource required to support, and the number of days will be agreed.

2. Package rates may be agreed for specific reviews or where a number of visits are required across a period of time.

3. Additional charges for any reasonable travel, subsistence and accommodation cost will be added to invoices.

4. Costs will be invoiced at 50% of the fixed price in advance, the remainder of the fixed price, plus any variable costs on the completion of the report.

5. Where there a number of visits, invoices will be issued after each visit at mutually agreed points.

6. Support will include an agreed number of visits and report.

7. Time charged will include preparation, visit(s), report-writing, and travel time over one hour.

8. An admin fee of 5% of the total fixed price will be charged
